Tim M
Quote: Of late Michigan’s Taylor Lewan has been the popular offensive tackle pick projected to the Bills with their choice at ninth overall. One of the newer mock drafts, however, has Buffalo getting one of the other top three offensive tackles in the class. CBSSports.com’s Pete Prisco has Buffalo taking Texas A&M OT Jake Matthews. Here’s his assessment. 9. Buffalo Bills – Jake Matthews, T, Texas A&M: I will stick with the idea that Matthews is their guy. They could move Cordy Glenn to the right side. I disagree that Glenn will be on the move. Doug Marrone has said he was very pleased with Glenn’s play last season, so I’d be surprised if they decide to move him for 2014. If the Bills draft a tackle I tend to think he will line up on the right side if he’s able to overtake incumbent starter Erik Pears. bcw
I'd love the pick. Making a commitment to the run game and helps give EJ time in the pocket. I'm usually a sucker for playmakers and pass rushers but Matthews is great value at 9.
Buffalo1
Awfully high pick for a RT.....you could get s very good starting RT in the 2nd or 3rd IMO. Quote Circle the wagons
Maz
Awfully high pick for a RT.....you could get s very good starting RT in the 2nd or 3rd IMO. Mathews is a franchise OT though, he wouldn't simply be a RT but a swing tackle (I'm sure we could plug him in at LT if Glenn went down with not too much drop off). While I agree this is not a sexy pick in the least, if Mathews is there at 9 it would be wise to take him I think. Now, I would not be nearly so convinced if say it was Lewan at 9, while guys like Evans and Ebron are still on the board. Of course, I like everyone want the playmaker but if we can get a stud OT in the first we can go high on a WR or TE in round 2 and still get a quality starter. Guys like Seferian Jenkins, Kelvin Benjamin, Beckham Jr, Robinson, and so on will all still be there. I won't be super excited if we got Mathews (simply based in the position and how exciting it is) but I sure as hell wouldn't be upset with Mathews. Dude, you aren't just getting a RT but an OT that can play both sides. Last year OT's went pretty high as I remember. You need to build from the inside out. Watch how high the Big Guy from Auburn goes. I would be very happy with Matthews (the guy who protected Johnny Manziel's ass) and made him look good. Taylor Lewan is a stud too. I got to see his combine and he is one hell of an athlete. I'd love either one. Get your TE/WR in the 2nd round.
seandelevan
Look at defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks offensive line. 2 first rounders, 1 second rounder, a 7th rounder and a practice squad dude! So no we don't need a line full of 1st and 2nd round dudes to even be decent.
