WR Trent Sherfield and Deonte Harty snap count and production vs Jets

I didn't see Trent Sherfield on the field against the Jets, but apparently he had a total of 10 offensive snaps.   Zero targets.  Zero catches.

Deonte Harty had 14 offensive snaps (plus punt returns).    Zero catches.   He might have had one target.

I get Beane was hoping both would contribute in the passing game, but I don't see that it will ever happen.   Maybe call up Isbella and give him their reps?

PS Next year I would love to draft WR Roman Wilson, Michigan in the 3rd round (after drafting a WR in the 1st).
Roman has the juice we were hoping to get out of Harty.

Harty had one target that I can remember. The miss right after JA17 throw away pitch while running to the right. Harty and Sherfield are spot fillers, hopefully we do t have to see them get extensive use due to injury! I do agree though, start trying some other guys out to see if they can be productive 🤷‍♂️!!

I am not pounding the table for Tyrell Shavers, WR, for example, but it is worth discussing.    If Shavers can give you something on special teams, how much would it hurt to waive Sherfield (and hope to put him on the practice squad) and elevate Shavers to the 53 man roster.   Shavers is a rookie and maybe he can develop a little, getting those 10 snaps a game for the rest of the season.

Or, same scenario with Isabella?

Sherfield has been useless. Harty at least has value as a returner. He's very sure handed and can make some moves.

Although, Shakir, or Isabella could handle return duties just as well.    But, I guess just keep Harty for returns and avoid getting Shakir hurt.

Wonder when Knox is going to be back.   Two weeks?  Then we might seen even less of Sherfield.

How much is on Sherfield and Harty, and how much is on Josh? Nobody can deny that Diggs, then Davis are always his first reads. Is that because of the play that was called or does Josh trust them more than Sherfield or Harty? Are Sherfield and Harty getting plays called for them? I personally doubt it. I think Josh and the coaches have their favorites, and a lot of the reason coaches seem to prefer Davis over these guys could be because Josh likes him more. You almost need an injury to judge them on their usage. If Diggs or Davis were to get hurt, thus shifting focus to Sherfield or Harty, I think we'd be somewhat surprised how well they could do. They're WR 4 and 5. Hard to make an impact without someone in front of you, either completely shitting the bed or getting injured.

He's eligible to return this week. His 4 games are up but I believe he's not ready. Safe bet is after the bye.

Two more examples of ‘kicking the can down the road’ instead of just drafting a fucking receiver to begin with! And not day 3 or later either god damnit!!!

this fucking team I tell ya!

Trent Sherfield was signed because he only cost us about $1 million for a one year deal.   Walmart signing.

Going forward IMO we will lose / let go of Gabe Davis, Trent Sherfield and Deonte Harty this off season.    I don't see any of them coming back.

Then in the draft I do believe Brandon Beane will draft one early.   Should be one in the 1st round.   Then I would double dip and take another one.  3rd or 4th round.   When the draft is stacked with WRs, take advantage.

What's with Shorter? I know he was placed on IR, but thought that it had the designation to return, maybe give him a shot....Harty has a 2 year deal so he might be here next year based on need alone but Sherfield is as good as gone

Sherfield was/is on a one year deal.   So, yes he is automatically gone come the end of February.

Shorter.   MY GUESS, and purely pulling this out of my ass, the Bills simply redshirted him for the season.  They must have seen he wasn't NFL ready back in preseason.  Unfortunately when you are on IR you are not allowed to practice with the team.   Thus, he hasn't gotten any reps all season.     There are two other WRs:  Tyrell Shavers  and    Bryan Thompson who practice everyday since they are on the practice squad.  Don't know if they offer anything.

LOL - Sean doesn't watch the games. Bills just put up 30 on the 3rd best defense in NFL. I have been proving Sean wrong for a long time now and I was right again about the Bills weapons being fine and the issue being JA17 not using them. Well look what happened?  I WAS RIGHT AND SEAN WAS WRONG AGAIN!
