So, why shouldn't I consider religious belief as mental illness?

Just because the majority of humans suffer from a form of the affliction?

After all, there is NO EVIDENCE IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM that supernatural humans, angels or devils exist.

How can anyone consider it mentally and emotionally beneficial to believe in imaginary beings?

Because the (religious) experts say so?

For one thing, several Biblical prophecies have come to pass.

But regardless, it is your choice whether to believe or not believe. Why should anyone force it on you?

I feel sorry for all the poor people in the audience with genuine heartache sincerely hanging on every word while he runs his schtick.

He's weirdly fascinating with the ridiculous hair and hipster clothes fit for the disco.

That's why people shouldn't put their fiath in man. There is no bigger rock star than the pope . People worship him as if he is the holiest Christian  in the world.

You think Catholics worship the Pope? Wow, that's approaching not even wrong territory.  The current feeling about Francis is very divided.  Some view him as too far to the left, others aren't going to like him as much as they do now after the Synod.  Me? He's not that bad.  He isn't one of the greatest popes, but he isn't one of the worst.  Honestly, I think he is headed for Benedict XV territory in that he had high aspirations (Benedict had ending WWI and expanding missions) and while he himself will do very little as far as advancing the Church he is paving the way for the new century.

FWIW, IMVHO the best pope of the 20th century was John XXIII.  If not for him and his calls for peace during the height of Cold War I we may all be dead.  By the way, I highly encourage all of you who are of faith to get a copy of his Journal of a Soul.  Actually, I extend that to non believers as well.  We can all be inspired by reading about a very humble, very decent man.

I've listed several. Search.

I think AronRa is an asshole, but. . . . For sake of argument. . . .

and no I don't particularly agree with him or his ideas although he tore Kent Hovind some new gaping holes, but I think these do merit a view.  I look forward to being called an atheist for posting these, but no.  See, unlike a lot of people I can entertain an idea without particularly agreeing with it.  Start with the last video first and go from there.

Now that I have let my atheist use his truncheon to soften you up a bit, in the book of Daniel, using the text alone -if you are a fundamentalist and scripture is all you have this is all you can do - please find me in scripture where I am supposed to believe that there is a parenthetical gap in the prophecy of Daniel 9 between the 69th and 70th week.  Also, please give me your best scriptural argument for Rapture.

My family is mostly Catholic which normal in a hispanic family. Some of them act like the pope is holier than Christ. I was in the same boat until I actually read the bible and saw the life Christ lived. It was nothing like the popes.

The pope is  equal to  a pastor to me. No better, no worse than any other  man .

Rapture nuttery fascinates me.  Perhaps its because seeing it for the nonsensical bullshit that it was drove me away from that particular very insignificant subset of Protestant Christianity.  Rapturetards often mention Daniel 9 and the parenthetical gap between the 69th and 70th week to advance their nonsense.

Pay no attention to Gibby .. he is just a lonely bank teller with no expertise in this area. He just takes a crude opinion against everything to TRY and show every one how smart he is. At the end of the day he is just a fancy cashier.

who said anything about "believers." I'm a believer.  I also know that rapture nuttery didn't exist until the Darbyist movement in the 19th century.  1900 years of believers and much of Christendom today, myself included, do believe in the return of Christ, but the rapture? That's a bunch o bullshit.

I was steeped in rapture ideology in my teen years and into my twenties.  I spent much of my twenties and thirties reexaming that nuttery and if you wanted it can defend both sides of the argument from an entirely Christian perspective.  Wanna try it sometime?
