The Lie of Political Asylum

The definition of Political Asylum is People who seek asylum who say they are victims of threats, physical harm or denigration of their human dignity as these are violating their human rights.

This is not true of the millions who come to the border every month. The perception that this is an invasion is closer to the mark.

Debate!

What's your point?

The point is that the people who defend the people coming to the border use the excuse that they are seeking asylum, which should allow them to enter the US legally but they are not. Not in accordance to the definition of political asylum

So is it your contention than everyone at the southern border seeking to emigrate here, is claiming 'political asylum'?

The short story.

Every president in recent memory has called for border security and a better solution to ILLEGAL immigration. Congress fails to act because it's unpopular and congress stays away from unpopular subjects as much as possible. After all, the only thing members of congress fear is not getting re-elected - and controversial subjects make politicians look bad. So they sit back and let the president take the heat for whatever happens.

After taking heat for having kids in cages because of overwhelming illegal crossings, and numerous, repeated fails by congress to act despite Obama pleading with them to send him an immigration bill, president Obama used an executive order that redefined asylum seekers. Asylum seekers are not treated as ILLEGAL immigrants and are instead given food, shelter, living quarters, working papers, and an eventual court date to plead their asylum case.

This temporarily solved the problem of kids in cages. Unfortunately, the word got out all over the world, including to Mexican "coyotes" and drug smugglers, that all anyone had to do - even if they were caught 50 miles from the nearest legal point of entry - was throw up their hands and say "asylum." By executive order these people were now all protected from being charged with ILLEGAL immigration. Even a coyote who is caught 50 miles from the nearest legal entry point with a 12 year old child can just say, "I seek asylum. I have no idea who this child is she just saw me 20 minutes ago and started following me." These people are then taken to shelters and cared for as asylum seekers.

Of course, the shelters became overwhelmed. The states that were immediately affected screamed for congress to do something. But of course the congressmen in the unaffected states ignored the problem. Many even embraced the subject by declaring themselves the ultimate bleeding-hearts of society and telling the world they would welcome these no longer illegal asylum seekers - in turn currying votes from their equally minded bleeding-heart constituents. AUTHOR'S NOTE: Compassion is fine. Throwing a blanket over a problem because it hurts too much to open your eyes is irresponsible. Complaining about people who do see the problem and speaking out about it doesn't make them wrong.

As the detention centers became overwhelmed and the courts got backed up with so-called asylum seekers waiting years for their hearings. the government began to (mostly silently) relocate these millions of so-called asylum seekers around the country. A vast majority of whom simply ignored their court dates when they came around and, after taking advantage of USA generosity, either assimilated themselves into America with phony green cards just like the millions before them (only this time with free transportation, food and lodging to the interior), or simply returned to Mexico to resume what they were doing before they got "caught" (running children and drugs) And some, unfortunately, very possibly become part of a large contingent who ultimately plan to do harm - a la 9/11. Yes, is can easily happen when millions are allowed to enter unvetted. These people don't care about closed eyes and bleeding hearts - they take advantage of them.

Along came the unexpected orange president who said, this is bullshit. He got called names for rightfully labelling the huge number of these so-called asylum seekers as drug runners and human traffickers. He, like all his predessesors, couldn't get congress to act. Even the orange man's so-called racist hatred act of ending DACA, which was not done to actually deport those people, but in order to force congress to act and do something instead of riding with the unworking status quo, was twisted into hatred and vitriol by those afraid of not getting re-elected (remember, flashing photos of kids in cages - even though those photos were taken while Obama was in the seat?). Congress' response was to crucify the orange man at every turn and invent reasons to begin impeachment. So he simply undid President Obama's executive order and once again ordered that ILLEGAL immigrants found in places like 50 miles from the nearest legal point of entry were no-longer considered asylum seekers. He got crucified for giving it a mean sounding name like zero tolerance, even though it was the same previous policy with a new, mean sounding name.

Then along came President Biden, looking to ride the wave of orange haters who would vote for anything as long as it went against him. So mumbling Joe once again undid the mean-sounding zero tolerance policy, once again creating the former situation of an out of control border with literally millions of people coming in from all parts of the world, totally unvetted and unverified. The once again over-run border states, still without receiving any help from the afraid of not getting re-elected, lethargic congress, began to take advantage of the unaffected states public messages of welcoming these once again no longer ILLEGAL immigrants. But instead of secretly transporting them to these sanctuaries, they made a grand gesture of it. Trying to bring awareness to the closed-eye public that it is, in fact, a big problem.

Now, once the formerly unaffected states have seen just how much of a burden these so-called asylum seekers becomes as they find themselves similarly overrun, they suddenly change their tune while attempting to save face by still singing the same song (have to get re-elected after all). And after several years of border inaction by the blubbering man from Delaware and his cackler in charge, it's finally becoming a big enough story that the MSM is actually reporting on the fact that inadequate border security is a huge problem in America.

Now that I've had my fun with Hip and Boz, lets talk borders-

1. Invasion? Well, not quite.  They're being invited in and/or being trafficked.

1b. Want to stop the invasion, or curb it? Streamline the legal immigration system. Get rid of 1099 misc. employment, make companies and the wealthy give their workers W-2s so they can't pay them far below their wages.  Second, human trafficking is big business.  Don't punish the victims.  Make it known we are a nation of immigrants and that if people are willing to fill out the paper work and are not tied to cartels, terrorist groups, and other threats that they are welcome and obtaining a work visa and working towards citizenship is easy.  No, punish the coyotes, the sweat shops owners, the cantinas and sex traffickers, and the Americans who pay for the defacto slave laborers (sexual and otherwise).

3. Hip, why the anger? Seriously, increased immigration means the economy is doing pretty good.  People don't leave their homes to come to a country where their language is not spoken if they can't find work there.

3a. People go to other countries in terms of a better life.  We must also ask what makes them leave their homeland.  If our foreign policies are leading to their despair and the migration of people then maybe we should stop turning their homes into shitholes, this is especially if you fear they are going to turn our country into a shithole.

1. I'm sorry but yes they are.  Contractors, agencies that recruit nannies, these people don't just uproot everything and come here.  People are telling them there's jobs here and they are greatly underpaying these people.  Make people pay them a fair wage and the amount of illegal immigration sinks

2. Strange that you mention the thirties as that is about when our foreign policy started getting stupid in Latin America and started driving people out of their homelands.  Guess where they started going.
