On the 8th it was pretty chilly in that part of the world but the preceeding week it was low sixties and upper 50s.  People could comfortably be out there.  They might have jackets or long sleeve shirts but they could comfortably do that.

We are into double digit (in Celius) temperatures this upcoming week.

I cut the grass on Thursday Afternoon and will have to do it again on Friday.

No snow in the forecast until the 25th and it is only flurries.

We are in our own protected micro climate here in between the escarpment and Lake Ontario.

That is why the Niagara Region is making the best wines in the world now.

Down to only 5-6 climbing rose bushes that are still blooming to prune.

The 38 non-climbing rose bushes are all in their individual cardboard winter huts.

Covered the large outdoor furniture with tarps this morning.  Same with the Wood Burning Pizza Oven from Italy and the XL Big Green Egg with its deck.

I was going to give the lawn one more cut but it is currently at 3 & 1/2" and bright green so I will leave it alone until the Spring.

All the flower beds have been cut down except the second blooming of the Purple Globe Thistles.

My final task today today is to individually tie up the ivy branches to the dog kennel fence.  I planted 4 of them in 2018 however one or more of the dogs grew fond of their taste.  The dogs are past that stage so it is time to tie them up with the expectation that in 2-3 years the entire 6' high and 30' wide side of the dog kennel will be all ivy behind the 12 rose bushes, 3 small magnolia trees, new Dwarf Korean Lilac and the 20 monster alums I just planted for next year.  Of course, the crocus, daffs and tulips are all in the front of that dog shit fertilized flower bed.

 

Speaking of dog shit...How does that kunt Very Wide Ass winterize around his Florida trailer in the sand?

Does he just pick up the used beer cans of Bud Lite that he uses to douche his asshole?

Without the range, my garden probably looks a lot better too. Now that I am not watching football any more, I can get some projects done around the inside of the house too.  Gonna be painting most of the rooms on the main floor, and laying carpet as well.  Then its time add overhead lighting in the living room.  In coming years the kitchen will be modernized, the previous owners, investment property people, put this awful laminated countertop in, going to get marble put in to replace it.  Above that I I am tiling the walls behind the counter and stove to reduce backsplash and stains.  Hell, I may even post pics if I like the end result.  The trailer park trash of course will laugh at it because they consider art to be the pics of nude women they ripped out of the Hustler Magazine at the library and thumbtacked to the wall of their singlewide.  They can't paint because the rental contract prevents it, and their conversation pieces are half drank cans of natty light.  

These people are so sad.  They seriously can't understand why I despise their love of genocide and war and racism far more than I do someone who posts poop pics and makes over the top threats.

Those are really ambitious plans.

We renovated our 2nd floor this year which included the living room and kitchen.  Even with outside labour it was a long gruelling process.

Its going to take some time, but the painting will be done by early 2025.  The carpeting? That stuff is expensive and I am going to leave that to the professionals.  So maybe 2026.  Kitchen? That is realistically probably going to be around 2030.  My ultimate project for this house, though, is my basement remodel.  However, that could run into 10s of thousands of dollars.

I've developed this really cool art collection over the last few years strictly from the Oakville Goodwill and the Sally Ann Thrift store.

It's astonishing what really rich people want to give away.

Another suggestion is wood floors rather than wall to wall carpet.

Then look on the Internet for people that want to sell their area rugs.

Some beautiful stuff and dirt cheap.

I have nothing but hardwood floors with area rugs over them.  I like the hardwood floor in the living room, would like to get them buffered and/or stained and the office, but in the bedrooms, man I want to feel plush carpet on a cold day.

A pair of slippers solves that problem.

Besides, as long as you have a furnace and a thermostat, there's no reason your floor should be any colder than the ambient temperature.
