Crazy Legs
Joe Marino reviewed the coaches tape and declared "Christian Benford....he played great. Very instinctive in coverage. Loved his effort. He played fast. He looked comfortable." This is why Benford won the starting position over Elam.
seandelevan
I shudder at the thought of all the talent we passed over for fucking Kair Elam. This is YET more proof the Bills should just trade their first round pick every year for proven talent.
whorlnut
Who on earth would have ever thought McD could have gotten more out of a late round corner than a first round one? Oh…wait…

He's made a few big plays (the pick at KC in the redzone; the pick against Miami in the playoffs that likely spared the Bills from an embarrassing defeat very similar to the one we had Monday). Some people think that drafting a corner that played man-press all throughout college and trying to shoehorn him into the current zone defense is the biggest problem.

Some people think that drafting a corner that played man-press all throughout college and trying to shoehorn him into the current zone defense is the biggest problem. I'll add to that again, the man press he is known for during crunch time in the 2nd regular season MIA game, on the first rotation all game where he did not come out for replacement(which I pointed out numerous times in advance was evidence OBD had plans for the offseason. Rather than complaining, some could see this as a blessing for the situational tools HCSM has available to him. I'll also point out yet again, that the weekend they drafted him just the research I did told me he wasn't a pick our fast food society would like, particularly in this defense. IIRC though, he has an NFL pedigree with his dad and uncle to lean on, cut out the middle man agent barrier, and is a hard worker who brought his notebook to show to the Bills how he is continually trying to learn. OBD has mentioned he was the last guy they had on the board listed as a 1st round talent. Elam's size and speed also deserve mention again, and if the always angry are not careful, TFGs may remind them of the Twilight Zone, Monkey's Paw, and other illustrations of being careful what you wish for. It may be too early to declare The Curse of the daryls to have completely shifted away from injuries to the Bills, which still seemed prevalent. (Another team on that field the night before also looked....some might say cursed....to the tune of 40. Rather than injuries, the WRs looked appropriately to be the focus). StraightJ
My last post was longer than I wanted already, but the last sentence reminded me to seek out if @daryls61 or anyone had posted a thread about Sam Martin, whom the football gods seemed to spare last season, knowing he would be one focal point after the dire lack of ethics from the front office on the 2nd straight matter that transcended sport. I don't wish to derail this thread which is intended for hate at Elam and Beane, so any comments can be directed to wherever I find the aforementioned thread. *Also will be checking for any threads dedicated to asking if Rodgers' injury could have been a manifestation of TCOTDs and if there are any from daryls BREAKING about OBD(Maddy Blab)'s defamation of Stefon Diggs, in an apparent hot mic moment. Possible that Buddy has saved us. Quote Andy did you hear about this one?-REM . "I don't think I'm easy to talk about. I've got a very irregular head. Also remember we traded a 4th to move up to take him because they were afraid someone else would trade ahead of us to take him. We could've moved back with Jax and added a few picks and gotten Breeze Hall, Christian Watson or Skyy Moore, heck they could've gotten Kyler Gordon or Andrew Booth if they wanted a CB.

That is why getting extra picks is a great strategy (obviously extra 3rd round picks typically are better than extra 7th round picks). If you are throwing darts, it is helpful to get extra darts to throw. It also points out why drafting Best Player Available BPA is the better long term strategy. Since it is already a crap shoot, when you draft a Corner in the 1st round because you desperately need one can lead you into taking a player that is not as highly rated as a different player, at a different position. Bellicheck has been doing this for years. More shots at the dart board means more chances for bullseye. Quote The Things that unite us are far greater than the things that divide us. Taking more shots gives team a better chance to hit on one. For many years I have been Mr. Tradeback. Beane actually did a good job at it when instead of taking James Cook, he moved back, twice, to get some extra picks, then took James Cook. We were at pick 57, and he moved back to 60 and picked up a 6th /180th overall --> Matt Araiza Then he moved back from 60 to 63 to take Cook and got a 6th/209th overall --> Luke Tenuta FYI Beane had traded DE Darryl Johnson for a 6th / 185 overall. He used that pick to draft Christian Benford. If Araiza hadn't got hosed, he would probably be our starting punter right now.
