Popular Post jamsim67
Best defensive coordinator in the league, and McBeane doesn't even try bringing him back to Buffalo. Yeah, he was in Buffalo already, and treated pretty poorly (Wreck Ryan). All the more reason to talk to him, bring him back and make things right. IMO, should have tried. To be honest, not sure if the hiring of assistant coaches is all that important to McDermott or Beane.
Popular Post travolta
They can’t take him as DC. I think they would need to offer him a higher position. Assistant HC? I like him as well. Real, old school D. 3

nealpellecchia@yahoo
Loved him. More of a head coach. Since then we needed a franchise QB so bad that we took a freak with an amazing arm and coddled him into success. But only to that level. Took advantage of post Brady east but then got exposed...
HipKat
I was praying he would stay with Rex but I don't think he would come back to Buffalo. miamibillsnut
The browns may be in the conversation for contender on that one hiring alone. 83 yards passing and 6 first downs against that offense is a head turner. They have the running game and at least a capable quarterback. 1 Quote Sin is nothing to celebrate, have pride in, or hold parades for. The rainbow is a symbol of promise not a symbol of depravity. StraightJ
Glad to see folks talking about this. It was bringing back memories and I think I did about half a dozen "May the Schw*rtz be with you"s (Space Balls reference, though I'm not a fan)in the shoutbox. As soon as they hired Rex, I said I get the name, but a 3-4 will take time to make(and then unmake, unfortunately). Jam, in fairness, do we know for a fact he was never approached? I mean could he have flipped them the bird? lol Quote Andy did you hear about this one?-REM . "I don't think I'm easy to talk about. I've got a very irregular head. Crazy Legs
If we had brought Jim Schwartz to fill in for Leslie Frazier, it would have depended on McDermott's and Beane's vision for the defense. You sign and draft players to fit the style of defense you are running. Schwartz's style / player assignments is different than Frazier's. Would the players we have fit? I'm still waiting to see a vision of their defense. Just like in the past, I think the players would have rallied around Schwartz, and his schemes.

At the very least, he earned the chance to come in at least fail. And that's not saying he would have failed. He may have done very well.

pkschul
I don't think McD will ever want to relinquish control of the defense again. I think he has issues in that respect. Schwartz wouldn't want to come into a situation where the previous coach was forced out. Where's Mike Pettine these days? He's another good defensive mind. I'm of the mindset that I want an offensive mind for our next HC if McD tanks this year.

I'm tired of all these top draft picks on the defensive side, being paid to not play defense. I want a defense on a mission to bring pain for a full 4 quarters.

With a talent like Allen, it's tragic that they didn't find another offensive minded genius to run his offense at the very least. If McD is to leave, we need a coach that will take advantage of Allen's talent before he ages out 1 Quote “There he goes. One of God's own prototypes.
