What are the Realistic expectations for Dalton Kincaid as a rookie?

I agree 100% I think it was a bad pick. We should have taken TD Mazi Smith that Dallas took and kept our 4th round pick.

The Bills do need to change the offense and use more 12 packages, but Kincaid will also be used in 11 packages as the slot, so it’s not like this kid won’t be playing at all.  It’s up to OCKD to diversify this offense.  How nice will it be to line up in 11 with Kincaid, see the defense is playing nickel and shift him in tight to run the ball with our bigger guys Or see the defense with a base 4-3 and be able to throw the ball on them.  Bills were tied for third lowest in the NFL with 77 targets to tight ends.  Even if we are the middle of the league thats 40 more targets….not even counting the slot targets.

So you disagree with me that his max in 2023 is 30% of the Bills Offensive snaps?

Yes. I 100% disagree.  I posted this thread this morning and tonight I found a national recognized player scout and voice of Locked on Bills agrees with me from his latest episode he made this evening. Have a listen he gives expectations for every Bills pick.

I see a trend with how Buffalo is going after bigger sure handed guys this year.

Kincaid had a back injury which kept him from testing at the combine or a pro day so any number you may be seeing are pure speculation based on game tape.

He's a first down machine. Exactly what was missing in the Bills offense last year and why Allen had so many interceptions. Tight throws in the middle of the field you want someone with great hands that you can trust so the ball doesn't bounce off the receiver into defenders hands. Kincaid had the best hands in the draft. Knox is a nice player but he isn't that reliable target a QB needs. Excellent pick

Sean makes a good point about coaching, albeit in a whiny middle school girl way.  However, I think one of the reasons Dorsey struggled last year is that he was new to the job.  He was trying to keep things simpler.  Look for a lot more wrinkles this year or he will be collecting unemployment checks.

He also didn't have the layup passes to work with that Beasley use to get

Get Beasley to come talk to this kid (about just football though, CB is a loon) and have him learn the ins and outs of playing the slot. Then get him out there early and often. Beasley was a beast for us there. Allen looked for him all the time. This is what needs to happen. Massive involvement in the slot. From day one.

 Not sure how many of Josh’s Ints were throws over the middle. Not sure how many INTs were targeting TE's.

Just having another reliable option will lower that figure and it opens things up for a number of things. For one, pre snap recognition when this player is in motion. Also Progression wise, it's easier to have sure handed Wrs in Diggs and Kincaid, go 1 and 2. This is a slot WR not really a TE. He's gonna be used like they used Beasley in passing situations and blocking in running situations like they have been using Gabe Davis.  Now they got a player that can do both duties and they aren't showing their hand to the defense when he's out there. A player like this can be used every down Redzone, First down, Third and long, Third and short. Offenses like that don't get figured out on film or show their tendencies as much with a particular personal on the field when a player like this is so multi demential. Thus why teams with good TEs are always in SBs

I just dont see them having the balls to give him 100 targets this year. I hope I'm wrong. But year 2 I would expect 100 targets minimum.
