daryls61
Terrible pick. Bernard was terrible pick last year as well. WTF is Bean doing? Maybe McDermott is going to play some hybrid defense and reinvent the scheme with these light fast lbs. Quote The Things that unite us are far greater than the things that divide us. Buffalochief2
He is a higher rated overall player than Bernard. 129 vs 102. Bernard is rated better in the run game and Williams is better in coverage. Bernards PFF grades: Williams PFF grades: Williams is a good athlete. scored in Top percentile for LBs for all except vertical.

miamibillsnut
This pic tells me the bills have no intention of changing their failed defense philosophy that got exposed last year. For people saying we didn't draft a middle linebacker the bills don't use a middle linebacker. They use two outside linebackers. This pic is obviously another guy to add to the rotation taking into consideration the milano's always getting hurt a game here or a game there every season 1 Quote Sin is nothing to celebrate, have pride in, or hold parades for. Zan186
I was hoping for a trade up to grab Simpson but perhaps the Tulane kid is really good. I read he is very good in pass coverage. My fear is the Bills do not have a thumper in the middle. Undersized DT in Oliver with undersized MILB equals long runs up the middle. However, before I pass judgement, maybe the kid plays bigger....maybe he can add a little bit of muscle and weight in an NFL program and be a Zach Thomas kind of player.

With Bills being in Nickle 90% of the time, their LB's play like OLB's and have to both cover and move sideline to sideline. Nuke
It’s a tough pick to defend. He’s exactly what the Bills spent a 3rd rounder on last year. A Matt Milano clone. Which sounds great. Neither really fill Edmunds spot ideally. All I can come up with is that McBeane is looking for a specific skillset for a role player (Big Nickle?). That still means that last year’s third was a fail. 1 Quote Ed Oliver is my adopt-a-Bill

rcas0308
It's AJ Kleins job to lose this year regardless what everyone thinks. They ain't letting a rookie run the defense with the team having such high aspirations

Coverage not so much, but with Milano and Dorian with some Taylor Rapp mixed in there. We got something!
Victor7
Not a fan of this pick I gotta say. Those dudes that play 2 or 3 positions just don't do it for me. Jack of all trades, master of none. Bet McD was tired and antsy to get a defensive player drafted. 1 Quote Bills fan for life!! ................ bv
I wonder if the Cowboys drafted the LB the Bills wanted (the pick before) so Bean panicked. Right after the Cowboys drafted that LB Jurry and his gang had revenge smirks on their faces. Anyone see that?

I wouldn't have drafted one at all unless they were a special teams ace, but I wouldn't use a 3rd round pick on that.

Maybe they want to run less nickel and have two OLB out there on running downs. Early prediction: Klein or Dodson at MLB in the early going but it will be Baylon Spector when it's all said and done. He looked the part in preseason last year.
Zan186
I have learned to judge the pick after I see a player on the field for 3 years. Maybe Buffalo is going to a more traditional 4-3. Maybe they feel this kid can play inside. I chuckled when Zack Thomas was playing inside because he was undersized. He actually turned out to be pretty dam good. 1

I agree, I don’t get all the hate, he was widely considered the best coverage backer in this draft and it’s who I wanted if we missed out on Campbell. Campbell is obviously bigger and more well rounded, but I think Williams is a good consolation prize in the 3rd. With as much nickel as we play, I could see him basically starting over whoever wins our mlb spot and that person really only playing on expected run plays (if they stay in nickel) or whenever the rare occurrence we run the 4-3.
