* Top30 Pre-Draft Visit * WR Justin Shorter, Florida

Recommended Posts

According to his Instagram Florida Wide Receiver Justin Shorter is on a pre draft visit with the Buffalo Bills.

WR Justin Shorter, 6'4", 229lbs, 4.55 forty, 35.5" vertical, best year was 2021 with 41 catches for 550 yards and 3 TDs

NFL.com>

  • Big wideout with massive wingspan and large hands.
  • Can make his money working intermediate and deep.
  • Highly effective ball-tracking and high-point ability.
  • Better footwork getting into comebacks than most his size.
  • Below average foot quickness for yards after catch.
  • Slow getting off the snap and into the pattern

Big wingspan, tall, probably a depth or backup WR4/5.

6’4” 230 lbs and is built more like a TE then a WR.

Will he be the next DK Metcalf or Chase Claypool?   Probably not, but if you can get him into camp you have any opportunity to see if there is something there to work with.

His 10 yard split at the combine was one of the worst for WRs.  So, he definitely is slow of the line.   His vertical was just avg, especially for someone so tall.

You are right though, he should think about TE, although not everyone can make the switch.

That doesn't sound very promising unless he's going to get free releases

Sin is nothing to celebrate, have pride in, or hold parades for. The rainbow is a symbol of promise not a symbol of depravity.

I don't think some on here have any idea how in some situations opponents' defenses are going to have a difficult time with all the options JFA17 will have, and the looks Dorsey will now be able to use and are certain the Bills are doomed to being only the #2 offense in the NFL again, even if they are healthy this season. Really?  LOL.  Oh, please.  We're in the 5th round, ace.  Maybe you should be GM.  :classic_laugh:

So this is a calculated pick that fills a need?

Bills just throwing stuff at the wall hoping it sticks apparently.

The Bills brought him into Buffalo for a 30 Pre-Draft visit, so they know him.

And must have liked him enough to think he was worth drafting.

Although, he will have a tough time making the 53 man.   Might end up on the practice squad?

He has similar strengths and limitations that davis has. Possibly Gabe's replacement next year.

You might be onto something about replacing Davis.  If Gabe has a year like 2022 he will not justify a big pay day...thus Bills could let him walk and have Shorter replace him.

Davis will get paid. He just won't be worth it for the bills.

I expect Davis to get less targets this year as he moves into a WR3 role.  Kincaid should get the second most targets on the team playing big slot/TE2.  That should bring the asking price for retaining Davis down.

I hope he has a special teams mentality.

He could be a replacement for Kumerow and eventually develop into the 4th or 5th wr.

He is only a 5th round pick so I would expect, like you point out, a Kumerow level/role on the roster.

Diggs, Gabe, Shakir, Harty, Sherfield.....that is 5, so my expectation for Justin Shorter is 5/6 - if he works out.

I hope he works out....although that remains to be seen.

Joe Marino says he was a gunner on punt coverage team so he definitely sounds like a willing special teamer.

ITs a 5th round pick dudes. We are allowed to take a flier on a guy. If he pans out its a great pick. If not who cares, its a 5th.

So if nothing else the Bills get to practice against a big Wide receiver in the red zone who has some lesser potential to develop,
