Crazy Legs
Beane used pick 89 on Terrel Bernard last year. Why? Pic 89 is a fairly high pick. There were a couple of OLinemen, Safeties and Tight ends still on the board that could have contributed as rookies. Beane had Tremaine and Milano, so linebacker was not an immediate need in 2022. The only reason that makes sense is he thought in year 2 Bernard could be a starter. Here is a few clips from Bernard's scouting report from last year: Scouts rave about his leadership and character. Never-quit attitude despite adversity. Speed to cover man targets underneath.
Angry Byrds
PFF gave him a 64.6 score as a rookie and Edmunds had 79.0 last year. Edmunds was 54 score his rookie season and only scored higher than Bernard last season. Edmunds has been awful according to pff

f8ta1ity54
Bernard is going to be a project. He also needs to add weight. It's not good having a 224lb MLB.

bcw
This pick really doesn’t make sense to me. He seems like the mobile LB that you need in todays NFL but the Bills already have Milano. Bernard doesn’t seem like a fit to replace Edmonds at MLB.

Although, how many times did Tremaine stone a guy at the line? Most of his tackles were 5-7 yards downfield. In terms of Bernard, I remember a few reps in preseason where the back or tightend was able to run away from Bernard, so he didn't seem that fast to me. We are going to find out this summer. Which begs the question: Why the heck did Beane use such a high pick on a LBer that might not even fit the scheme? Milano was under contract for 2022 and 2023, so it wasn't to be Milano's replacement.

I’m wondering if they will use some 3 safeties, 1 LB lineups on passing downs with the signing of Rapp. I find it hard to believe he would come to Buffalo to be strictly a back up for Poyer and Hyde. But Beane didn't know he was getting Rapp last year when he drafted Bernard at pick 89. If he had drafted a center at 89, that would have made sense, longterm. If he had drafted a tight end at 89, to backup Knox, that would have made sense. Or a safety. It would have been someone that could replace Hyde or Poyer when their contracts expired. But I can not get what Beane was thinking by taking Bernard.

What did you see from a 3rd round rookie that played a total of 110 defensive snaps, that makes you believe he is capable of being an effective MLB in this defense? Are you concerned that he weighs 224lbs in a defense which already lacks size? Are you concerned his strengths don't match with what he will be asked to do on defense? Or are you convinced the bills alter the scheme? Make an argument.
