Spike's 2023 Mock Draft -- March 8th, 2023

I can’t adjust my mock draft to reflect the free agency signings the Bills made since they have thus far been pretty insignificant.

If the Bills do NOT sign FA Bobby Wagner, then I will need to change my 2nd or 3rd round from an IOL to a MLB.

With the Poyer re-signing, I do NOT expect the Bills to draft a Safety in the first 3 rounds.

This RB talk is foolish given the Bills used a 2nd round pick on Cook last year.

I have to agree with the RB selection. Only way I see a RB early is if Bijan Robinson is there. I do think the Bills will take him.

All Robinson would do is run into the fat asses of our OL as they are pushed like rag doll bitches into our backfield.

Now that Free Agency is for all practical purposes over, I see nothing in the signings that Beane made that prevents us from drafting 3 OL in the first 3 rounds other than a hole at MLB.

So if I were to make any adjustment after the end of Free Agency, it is to draft a MLB like Campbell in the 2nd round....

1st -- BEST AVAILABLE OT

2nd -- BEST AVAILABLE MLB

3rd -- BEST AVAIALBLE OC/OG

1st- Bijan Robinson if not there WR or TE

2nd - OL

3rd - OL

Find a MLB later and sign a free agent MLB.

That will be a completed wasted 1st round pick.

Like last year’s.

Bijan Robinson in this offense is a game changer. I know OL matters and yes they will drag a few and also signed a few to bolster the line.

Agreed - I'm hoping they can get another 2nd and grab both Simpson and Charbonnet.

3rd Round North Dakota State image Cody Mauch, G, North Dakota State

I will soon provide later round picks however if we draft the 3 above interior OL many of our offensive short comings are resolved.  We protect our 1/4 Billion Dollar QB with a nice neat pocket.  We give said QB more time to find our WRs on deeper routes.  We don't have to keep our TE back to pass block on the OL 75% of the time because we fear our opponent's pass rush.  We have an OL that can get push and open rushing lanes for whoever we hand the ball off to.  Third and short should be easy to get a first down behind this interior OL.

Skoronski may involve a trade up and I would have NO problem packaging our 1st round pick with our 4th round pick if we have a good Free Agency period and found a WR, RB, MLB and S through that channel.  I think bringing this Polak to Buffalo is worth the trade up.

Please use a mock draft simulator and make this happen.

I think Skoronski will require a trade up.

If Skoronski is gone, either one of these two OTs should be available to the Bills in the 1st round...

2. Ohio State image Paris Johnson*, OT/G, Ohio State
Height: 6-6. Weight: 313. Arm: 36.13. Hand: 9.5.
Projected 40 Time: 5.10.
Projected Round (2023): 1-2.

View Ranking History

3/18/23: Johnson started at left tackle for the Buckeyes in 2022 and played well. He was rock solid for Ohio State, providing steady blind-side protection for C.J. Stroud. Johnson is a good athlete with size and quickness. With his skill set and upside, Johnson could be a good starting left tackle early in his NFL career.

6/27/22: Johnson has a quality skill set with size, quickness and athleticism, and that made him a top recruit in the nation. Johnson started at guard in 2021 and was a solid blocker for the Buckeyes. With Nick Petit-Frere moving on to the NFL, Johnson is expected to be the starting left tackle in 2022. He has lot of upside to break out for the Buckeyes, and he could be a high riser if he performs well as the blind-side protector for C.J. Stroud.

3. Alabama image Tyler Steen, OT, Alabama
Height: 6-6. Weight: 321. Arm: 32.75. Hand: 10.5.
Projected 40 Time: 5.32.
Projected Round (2023): 1-2.

3/18/23: Steen was a 3-year starter at Vanderbilt before transferring to Alabama for his final season. Steen possesses excellent size for left tackle in the NFL and has developed strength. He was a rock-solid protector for Bryce Young while being a steady run blocker. Steen will enter the next level with a ton of experience, having started 45 straight games while playing in the best competition in college football. Steen did well overall at the Senior Bowl as well, showing the flexibility to play guard or tackle.

Steen has the flexibility to start out his NFL career at guard before moving to tackle. He is very physical and really gets after defensive linemen. Steen is sleeper who could be a good value from the middle to back portion of the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

MLB Campbell may go in the 1st round...

1. Iowa image Jack Campbell, ILB, Iowa
Height: 6-5. Weight: 249. Arm: 31.88. Hand: 10.25.
Official 40 Time: 4.65.
Projected Round (2023): 1-2.

View Ranking History

3/25/23: Team sources like Campbell and think he will go in the first two rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft. They call him a taller version of Chad Muma. In 2022, Campbell collected 125 tackles, one pass broken up, one sack, one forced fumble, and a superb interception off of C.J. Stroud. Campbell then helped himself with an excellent workout at the combine. While his 40 time was good, but not great, his field workout was very good. Campbell also illustrated impressive intelligence in the team interviews. Some teams picking late in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft have Campbell in the running for their pick.

7/8/22: Campbell was a tackling machine for the Hawkeyes in 2021 with 140 tackles, a sack, one forced fumble, two interceptions and five passes defensed. He is a large linebacker with the height and size to function in the tackle box. If Campbell covers well, he could rise.

What a draft that would be to win now and for years to come in terms of that OL.

Is Dennis a MLB?
