Children are not your property.  They are human beings who have a right to education.  Trans girls ARE girls.  Trans boys ARE boys.  Nobody is telling them they're anything they are not.  They're telling them it's okay to be who they ARE.

And if the parent doesn’t agree with the teacher, the parent still wins. I don’t see how you don’t get it. I broke it down for you. Parent says teacher is wrong that’s it. Parent pulls child from class tells the school you teach the kids and leave the parenting to the parents. End of fucking story this isn’t hard to grasp. You teach the curriculum you can tell kids that nobody should be touching them whatsoever and be nice to others and that’s it. Over and over again we go over this. Most teachers want to go to work and teach the curriculum and go home, they want to get caught up in this bs.

This approach only works until it doesn't.  When it doesn't, it hurts kids.  We- society as a whole- owe it to the kids who this methodology makes vulnerable to find a better way.

There is a better way. Allow the kids to develop and decide for themselves when they are old enough to make these kind of decisions for themselves.

So, kids are not curious and unsure of their place in the world??

And you try to pass yourself off as being knowledgeable about, ummm, anything?

Have you ever actually been around kids?? Other than the ones that probably beat the crap out of you on the daily when you were a kid?

Then we want the same things!  Teach kids very very basic info about the existence of queer and trans people, and make sure they have a space and a trusted adult they can go to instead of their parents if they have questions they think their parents will be hostile- perhaps dangerously hostile- towards.

The problem is the way you talk about this.  You act like kids literally cannot be trusted to make accurate declarations about themselves until they're 25.  Do you not think treating your kids as if evvvvvvvvvvvvery siiiiiiiiiiiingle thing they tell you about themselves is open for debate might fuck them up mentally?

ICR there are NO rules about going to a Dairy Queen alone.

You need NOT bring your own daughter there.

That's how dumb you sound.

My daughters best friend is a gay male who teaches 1st graders. He doesn’t want anything to do with this type of discussion with that age group nor does he talk about his personal life with his students. There was a kid pulled from his class just because a father saw that he had a rainbow sticker on his lanyard. As fucked up as it may be you’re not going to tell a parent what to do with their kids, and it’s just going to confuse/mess the kid up more if the teacher says it’s ok and the parent says it’s not.

Well there you go F8...you have been told -- he truly has first hand experience in being gay or a trans.

F8 you should probably apologize.

I've noticed a very common theme among conservatives. They don't like hearing opposing view points. They don't want their children to hear opposing view points. They don't want their children to be able to choose what they want to believe.

Why the FUCK would you push for kids to go to ANYONE else other than their parents and wtf is your deal with this insistence that parents don't listen to their kids? Again, using exceptions as rules.

Did daddy ignore you when you were little?? Or beat your ass for playing with dolls??

It's a fact. How can you describe the taste of a steak if you've never had a steak? You can read all about it and hear other people's descriptions but until you have a bite of a perfectly cooked steak, you just can't know.

The ONLY time teachers are supposed to involve themselves in the family dynamic is when they suspect there's abuse in the household. And even then, in most cases, they'll keep a blind eye. Most parents will get involved in cases where teachers try to make that type of personal intrusions into a kid's life.

You must be a Conservative then.

And again, insinuating that parents don't listen to their kids or support them when they have questions or feelings concerning their place in the world, their sexual issues, etc.

But you don't want to hear that because it opposes YOUR views

This isn’t just conservatives this is heterosexual parents. It has nothing to do with politics let me just tell you. Neither my daughter or her gay friend are conservatives neither are the majority of the parents who’s kids go to their school im sure being that it predominantly Mexican, Guatemalan and black students. I think both of you are very out of touch regarding what is important to parents. Very out of touch. A lot of you people who are for this clearly don’t have children this isn’t a Republican thing.

They don’t have kids but want to make decisions for people who do. They want teachers to tell children that their parents are wrong and that they are right. That’s not going to go over well anywhere or for any child.

Also strange because both of my kids are registered democrats. My son just turned 18. You are way too far left of democrat. Extremists aren’t good for either side. Majority of parents would be ok if their child is gay, but would prefer if they had a normal childhood and grew up and had a normal family. Most parents definitely don’t want to have to start dealing with their kid’s sexuality at 6 or 7 let alone trying to figure out if they should allow Jeff to wear a dress. Most kids that age can’t even pick their own clothes out.

Ok, but the teacher is correct and the parent is not in this scenario.  Right?  It IS okay to be gay.  Surely you can't be saying it's GOOD that a parent can simply lie to their kid and say "being gay is wrong" and let that be the end of it, are you?

So then we as a society owe it to that kid to make sure there are spaces where he can learn the truth.  We can't guarantee he'll be allowed to access them, but we need to create them anyway.

Those are the two issues right there.

They want to tell parents how to parent their kids while implying they won;t or can't and they want teachers to override the way parents raise their kids
