I’m all for taxing billionaires.

But “taxing them out of existence”???

So… communism? That’s what you want? Communist America?

Nobody needs to be a billionaire. Not when there are tens of millions without heath insurance. Not when there an estimated 500,000 homeless people, tens of thousands of them veterans. Not when children are going to bed hungry. Not when our infrastructure is falling apart in many places.  etc etc

Do you know what the tax rates on the wealthiest was before Reagan came in and gave what his own budget director called a "Trojan Horse Tax Cut  for the Rich". It was 90% in the 50's.  80% in the 60's. 70% in the 70's. Reagan lowered the top marginal tax rate from 73% to 28% over his two terms. The result has been to cripple spending on infrastructure and social programs to help the needy and so much more.

We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both.  Louis Brandeis (Former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States).

The last time we saw such concentration of wealth was at the time of the depression.

So keep cheering on the oligarchs if you want, they just love that their anti-tax propaganda works so well. And call me a communist if it pleases you. I would proudly wear that label if it meant increasing taxes on the wealthy to solve our many problems, feed the hungry, house the homeless etc.

Also it's pretty funny actually suggesting I'm a communist, makes me lmfao and flash back to the 60's and 70' s when people called anyone protesting the Vietnam War a communist (though young I was one of them (a protestor not a communist)and I use to laugh at them also) .

But no I  was never a communist. That's a term used by those too lazy to think things through.  I'm much more along the line of a Bernie Sanders in what is called 'Democratic Socialism'.

Sort of, yes.  I am an anarcho-communist, so I don't want "Communist America" because in an anarcho-communist world America wouldn't exist.  No states would.

Workers would democratically govern their own workplaces, neighbors would help provide for each other, communities would establish trade with other communities to make sure everyone's needs are fulfilled, and once they are you'd get to live a comfortable and MUCH less stressful life.

You wouldn't need to worry about health insurance.  If you need to see a doctor or get medication or whatever, you can.

You wouldn't need to go into debt to pursue an education.  Training for various trades would be widely available.  Ideally you'd be free to pursue the career you find most meaningful.  Do you want to be an anthropologist?  Great!  Do you want to create beautiful art or compose beautiful music?  Wonderful!  Do you enjoy working with your hands and want to get into mechanical engineering?  Carpentry?  Plumbing? Repair?  You'll be lauded and respected as a vital cog of keeping your community happy, healthy, and thriving.

Believe me, I know you're all convinced this is a pipe dream.  Fret not!  It absolutely cannot happen within your lifetime.  The society I'm talking about is at MINIMUM a century away from being feasibly manifested.

Instead, what we need to do today is address poverty and income inequality.  REALLY address it.  And one of the uncomfortable truths people need to acknowledge is that if you let billionaires continue to exist, they will continue to amass enough exorbitant wealth to buy politicians' loyalty and dissuade them from getting in the way of their unrelenting consolidation of wealth in a society where wealth = power.

The dream land only works if all are involved.

I agree.  That's why we're so far off.

People can't look at what I'm describing and say "yeah I like how that sounds!"  You are conditioned to scoff at it because we can't do it now.

No shit we can't do it now!  I'm not suggesting we should!  What I'm advocating for is very simple: we should try to make the world better.

If you can't even engage with me on a level that agrees with that basic guiding principle of why governments exist, then what do you actually bring to the table that I should be expected to regard as valuable?

I think they've concluded that the only way to 'make people's lives better' (with their own being at the top of the list) is to get rid of a few billion people from the planet. Thus the push to "get your booster." All evidence of their efficacy to the contrary.

So not only do you not mind the NRA being complicit in murdering children you also don't care if children go hungry or people/veterans are homeless or people don't have health insurance, etc etc

And you wonder why I might wish some people dead. If I actually did, rest assured you'd be at the top of the list.

Nobody needs three houses but why should that stop anybody from having three if they can afford it? I have customers who have three houses

The fact that there is anybody in the entire US that could mock the belief that we could make the country better by taxing billionaires out of existence and using that revenue to lift the working class out of poverty is a moral blight against our shared existence.

That this mockery is seen as legitimate by a large swath of the working class itself is a sign of imminent civilizational collapse.

As much as you (and myself for that matter) want to think it would work that way, IT WOULD NOT. The governing bodies would take it and by the time it trickled down to the “working class” and poverty stricken individuals, they’d still be in poverty and may have already starved or froze since they lost their fucking job due to that “taxing billionaires out of existence!”! FFS, you aren’t a very theoretically sound Anarchist 🤣🤦‍♂️

I agree. But unfortunately socialist think you are NOT entitled to have whatever it is you worked hard for even if it's in the billions.  You can't have or live your dreams even if it's extravagant.

Whatever . You don't want Elon making whatever, don't participate or contribute.  Is not his job to provide for you.

Elon does make "whatever" so actually if I don't want him to I SHOULD participate in the political advocacy of taxing him whatever it takes to get his personal wealth to $999,999,999.

I used to, but I was mass reported for calling someone stupid and dishonest.

3 weeks later she said Nazis were in Heaven because the souls inhabiting the bodies of their victims all chose to be Holocaust victims in some prenatal cosmic realm, so....I believe I absolutely fucking nailed it.
