I always took Australia first.  Then I rolled up through Thailand and collected my bonus forces and just bit by bit built up and then I stormed into Africa and South America and went from there.

I loved that game, but like monopoly it dragged on and on til I didn’t care if I won or not😂

Big difference between Monopoly and Risk.  I don't ever remember someone picking up the risk board, flying it high into the air, game pieces, cards, and money going every which way out of disgust and people calling their closest friends and relatives shit I wouldn't even call ICR.  Yeah, there's never been family feuds and enemies made over risk, but there has in Monopoly.  Seriously, the war game ended peacefully.  Monopoly could often get very hot tempered.  Whenever someone shows that meme where the monopoly board is upside down on the floor and the caption reads, "have a family game night they said, it will be fun they said" I just laugh.

My 3 now adult children are/were very competitive -- internal medicine doctor, economic/social development manager and an addictions doctor.

3 out of 5 monopoly games between us ended up in a board flip and it wasn't always me that did it.
