Herodotus
I have decided to create a thread. What are things that you feel our nation's children should be taught in high school? Mine are as follows: 1. Personal Finance- How to write a resume, apply for a job, dress for an interview, and land a job How to make a budget How to build your credit without ruining your financial Health How to comparison shop How to get a college degree without going into hock for 20 to 30 years 2. Home Economics and Maintenance and basic Automotive care- How to make inexpensive, healthy, high yield, and delicious food How to switch out vacuum belts and do minor repairs to home appliances and do minor household maintenance How to change your oil, switch out a belt, charge a battery, fix a flat, and keep your car running 3. First aid CPR How to dress a wound How to treat heat and cold injuries 4. Cyberspace and You Ideally, no kid should be on sociial media until they are in college, but that ain't happening so how to be a safe and responsible online citizen Media literacy. Young adults need to have the ability to watch a PragerU or a Crowder video and be able to identify how and why it's full of BS 5. How to have safe, rewarding, healthy, and meaningful friendships and relationships Look, I know this one is traditionally taught at home, but not every child is so lucky to have had parents available to teach them. 6. Critical Thinking and Reading -Breaking down and analyzing an argument -What are good sources of information and what is junk - How to address bias - Who wrote or said what -What is their bias -what is their reason for writing what they wrote or said -what do they want you to think -can they be trusted 7. How to identify scams and avoid being scammed. How about you. What are some things you'd like kids to be taught in schools?
