The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $46,278, and the median income for a family was $54,179. Males had a median income of $39,003 versus $26,846 for females. The per capita income for the town was $20,529. About 3.0% of families and 4.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.1% of those under age 18 and 4.7% of those age 65 or over.

The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.88.

In the city the population was spread out, with 21.9% under the age of 18 and 16% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38.9 years. For every 100 females, there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.7 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $41,913, and the median income for a family was $57,145. Males had a median income of $43,485 versus $30,881 for females. Pekin, for sure, since this is where the first Illinois Chapter of the KKK was started and more infamously, locally, until not many years ago there was a sign on the IL Rt 9 bridge over the Illinois river coming into Pekin warning black people to stay out of Pekin, especially at night.

It's a major motivation for moving here, after living in the shit-hole ghetto that Peoria is. That plus the great access locally to national shopping chain stores and dining, good local restaurants, grocery stores and a sense of real community. It's nice going to a Walmart where everyone has more respect for the store and each other because they have the same white skin color, compared to the ghetto Walmarts across the river in shit hole Peoria.

Not to mention the best high school I've ever seen, with opportunities and programs for kids I never would have imagined.

Sadly, this also the home of the Pekin Federal Prison, where a program was started to relocate inmates' families closer to give them the opportunity to see each other more often, a program I support, but not happy about seeing a rising black population. Nothing against black people but what they do to a community is not debatable. They're like a virus, Matrix reference, to the community. Destroying it and then spreading out.
