I do think it was one of his better shows, but not necessarily because of him or this new rule you posted. My problem with Maher has always been his 'Both Siderism".  It's why he used to try and balance his show with with right wingers who would never STFU and just continually talk over others. And than it just blew up on him one show where he totally lost control of the show and just let some  RWNJ take control of the show. The two other members of the panel were like WTF is going on here with looks of disgust on their faces.. .The blow back from that show was intense  Shortly after that Maher and the producers quit bringing on the RWNJ's, and the show got infinitely better, giving everyone a chance to speak. I also like it so much more with only two guests on the panel vs having three, And  it's not like he totally quit having opposing viewpoints on the show, they just quit bringing the nut jobs on.

But  tell me, what is it you think Maher "gets"  Gibby?  Cuz I do think more compromise and listening is needed, I just don't see how you compromise with haters, and racists and book burners.

Okay, well I posted this clip because in recent times I have been engaged in arguments with two groups of people have been attacking Lincoln.  One group is racists who want to defend their racism by saying see Lincoln was a racist too because in the 1850s Lincoln said things that were racist.  Well, to them I say fuck you.  These are the same people who like to say Richard Byrd was in the KKK, never mind that he came clean about that and for the last few years of his life he was a champion of civil rights so I say fuck them.  The other group are those on the left who slam Lincoln for being a racist.  Yes, Lincoln did say racist things.  He was president over a very racist nation and to get elected president he had to appeal to that racism.  However, Lincoln was transcendental because he fucking evolved on the issue.  He moved away from a model of repatriating all but ten percent of blacks to full citizenship with all rights appertaining.  Also, the Emancipation Proclamation was the greatest fucking executive order in history.  In one stroke he won the civil war and ended slavery.  Dyauh, but slaves were still in bondage in occupied territory and in the border states (Missouri, Kentucky, and Maryland), well true but it also crushed the confederate economy by taking away their workforce and offering the newly freed workforce pay if they made it to Union lines, and it paved the way for the 13th Amendment.  It was a damn brilliant document.  Anyways, there are too many people who say he did not do enough, and they tarnish him because he did not live up to our standards.  Well, if not for what he did, we would not have those standards today.  

To those in Boston who tore down statues of him, well dude what the fuck? Lee and Jackson and Beauregard and the traitorous slave holding south? Yeah do it.  In their own days they were condemned for slave holding and being fucking traitors.  Lincoln? No!  Lincoln may not have been in the same league as William Henry Seward, who was made Sec State after he was deemed to radical to win the election of 1860, or Thaddeaus Stevens, but he was a moderate who evolved and became not only a champion of ending the spread of slavery but also by the end of his life a champion of a new America where blacks would enjoy freedom and equal rights under the law.  Without Lincoln, the USA does not endure the civil war and there may well never be an end to slavery and the start to the long road to equal protection under the law.  

In short, we cannot judge people by our standards, but by the standards of their time.  Lee and the sessesh, well fuck their slave holding treasonous asses.  Lincoln? Don't you fucking dare bring him down to their level.
