Most Black people want reparations. They don't believe America will give them any

I know it’s a paid subscription but the key points are listed. I think as a country we need to address this in a meaningful way. Maybe free education for each family member affected? Scholarship can be transferred to other family members.

  • About 45% of Black people in the nation said equality is not likely to happen, according to a Pew Research Center survey.
  • Nearly 9 in 10 Black adults want to see aspects of the courts and other parts of the criminal justice system reformed.
  • Black people in the Northeast were more likely to say the legacy of racism significantly impacts Black people compared to the South and the Midwest.

You don’t need to address anything. It was 170 years ago. They’ve already been given every opportunity that they can possibly hope for. I’m not with this reparations bullshit. Fucking tired of people walking around their goddamn hands out whining about some shit that happened in the past. Yes it was a horrible time in our history but you know what, there’s been a lot of horrible times in our history.

if they want to get even, let them pull themselves up and take advantage of every opportunity they have and make something out of themselves.

It’s not just about slavery. It’s about the generational transfer of wealth. Look at Black Wall Street. Blacks couldn’t drink from the same drinking fountain than us 50 years ago.

Who is should pay for it?

Won't be you.

There is absolutely no way you are contributing anything to society that would result in a payment to you.

Well....may be sucking off old drunks for $5.00 a shot.

But yet you are willing to pay for all 6 of Trumps bankruptcies. And all the additional cost of the aftermath on January 6th.

You’re such a fool! Absolutely zero use of logic or rationale in your thinking🤦‍♂️... How about the Obamas and their “perks”, how about the Bushs and their “perks”, etc...!?

Zero logic? What perks? While they were president? 6 bankruptcies isn’t a “perk” and Trump lead January 6th. You just move the goal posts to try to make a bullshit argument. Nice try.

I understand that. But every country has something they can look back at as a dark time in their history. Do you think the Israelis might have an argument for reparations from Egypt? 50 years ago they were at war still and thanks to the Republicans favorite whipping boy, Jimmy Carter they’re not any longer. All I’m saying is that the underlying mantra of the United States is that it’s the land of opportunity. But you have to seek out your own opportunities.

The black community has some hurdles, but most of those they put in their own way. And those hurdles are what cause the kind of outside resistance they get from other communities. It’s up to them to change people’s perception of their community and it’s up to them to take advantage of the opportunities they have to rise up above any obstacles in their way.

Look at at this graph… it takes decades if not a century to recover from this.

They’ve had almost 2 centuries. How much more time do they need? I get caught in the middle of these kind of arguments because while I understand the need for some social assistance for people who are not able to go make things happen on their own due to whatever the situation is, I also see the other side of the argument where too many people have taken that assistance and turned it into their lifestyles which they pass on from generation to generation.
