Daniel Jeremiah mock draft

DJ’s mock draft has Tampa taking Jahan Dotson from Penn State. A speedy weapon that could be a menace in any passing game. He also has the chiefs taking Jameson Williams who is a top 10 pick if he didn’t get hurt. Another elite weapon for Mahomes.

What about us?  A fucking corner.

This is what people think of this regime. They don’t value elite weapons on offense. They let’s our biggest rivals keep loading up on offense and our response is to “hope” we can stop them. It’s absolute shit.

CB is in play at 1.

The Bills were #5 in Total Offensive yards this year, with 381 yards per game.  (The Chiefs had 396 yards/game.)
Bills converted 11 of 22  ____4th down plays
Bills converted 103 out of 222 ____3rd down plays

The offense was pretty special.

Although I wish we had a Derrick Henry clone to pound other teams when they try to cheat back covering Josh's targets. A more dependable, consistent running game would certainly be nice.   Especially in 3rd-and-1 situations.   Go Bills.

The total defense was #1!  My point is it’s already a strength as well, to the tune of best in the league.

I guess I'm cool with whatever with our first, true BPA. Other than Allen, Diggs, and Tre, we don't have any all world players at any position. Both WR and CB require multiple players on any given play, so other than QB, I'd be cool with just about anything.

Williams is a guy that would be in the top ten if not for an injury. A guy that teams mid way through the season will sit there and think, why did we pass on this guy? A few years ago it was Montez Sweat, there was also Myles Jack, Tunsil, it happens all the time. I hope the Bills don't pass on him for a run of the mill CB or DE....go trade for Hunter, give a 3rd and a conditional, and sign a CB in FA.

Anyone that believes this defense ranking wasn’t because of the easy schedule and that this defense is a strength wasn’t paying attention in the Chiefs game.

The Bills defense was not #1 against the Bucs, Titans and Colts.       Gave up a lot of points in those 3 games.

I wish we wouldn't have passed on Mercole Hardman, AJ Brown and DK Metcalf and instead we drafted Cody Ford.   Heck instead of moving up for Cody Ford, we could have moved up two spots for Deebo Samuel.

BUT that is what happens when you target a position/need and don't just the Best Player Available.

Hahahahaha.  Again…it was the number one defense in the league. Over 17 games. We went up against an elite offense. Elite offenses beat top defenses all the time in this league. How old are by the way?

BPA is completely overblown. What if the BPA is qb?  Do we take him?  IMO, it needs to be BPA at a position of need more than anything.

Don’t forget about Jeffrey Simmons. And then there is Tre Smith, who supposedly had some sort of condition that got cleared up. Happens all the time. I would LOVE to have Jameson Williams for Allen. Him, Diggs, and Davis would instantly be one of the top corps in the league.

If we are able to get a top 10 talent without moving up we need to run to the podium with that pick.  CB opposite Tre is a need but I think we can get one in the second or third round.  I am hoping someone picks up Frazier and we get an extra third this year.  Remember this is supposed to be the deepest draft in a long time due to Covid rules in college last year.

Give Cordarrelle Patterson a contract offer that he cannot pass up...

The problem with drafting a CB in the first round is that the Bills already have and pay for a #1 CB.

What do you do with this newly drafted CB once it is time to extend his rookie contract?

No team that is paying for a franchise QB can also afford to pay for two #1 CBs without creating huge holes in its line up.

So this draft strategy is flawed from the start.

I expect Beane to adopt this flawed strategy.

After all, he drafted an overaged DE in the 2nd round last year after drafting a DE in the first round when we desperately needed interior offensive linemen.

Of course, Basham was in active for most games this season.

Which elite offenses  are you talking about? The 34 points we gave up to Tennessee? The 41 points we gave up to Indianapolis? The 33 points we gave up to Tampa Bay? The 42 to KC? Other then that what elite offenses are you talking about? We did hold the gunslinger Tua to 11 points over two games. The high powered Jets to 27 points over two games. The Jaguars to nine and even shut out the “elite “ Houston Texans offense. This defense might be number one on the stat sheet, but that’s has more to do with the schedule and the fact that we played in a division with Tua and two rookie QBs than anything. But, hey believe what you want.

So actual statistical rankings over the course of a 17 game season don’t mean anything?  Ok…”believe what you want”…

Blindly looking at stats and not the level of competition those stats came against is pretty naive.

You mean like how people are blindly looking at the offensive output and not realizing it’s all because of Allen?  If so, then I agree.

Allen needs help to take some of the pressure off of him. His output and do-everything-himself isn’t sustainable. It’s time to actually give a shit about getting top level offensive talent on this team to help our best player on either side of the fucking ball.

It's a lot easier to play defense when you're almost always playing with a double digit lead.

Ok. Cool. Let’s keep drafting defense in the first couple rounds every year. Meanwhile, the chiefs are laughing at us and drafting guys that can dominate our shitty picks. I swear this fanbase has such an old school mentality. It’s not the old days when defenses could stop great offenses.

I don’t disagree with it all being because of Allen on offense, in fact I go one step farther, Allen is the ENTIRE TEAM. If you watch my posts about the drafts, I’m bashing Beane on his defensive draft choices. A) because they aren’t very good and B) I don’t want to do to Allen what Green Bay did to Rodgers. My top two needs this off-season is improving the interior OL and adding playmakers. Doesn’t change the fact I don’t believe this defense is good. But how did drafting three DEs in the last three drafts work out in the KC game. It didn’t. 4 tackles between the three, total non-factors. We live and die with Allen put him in the best position to succeed
