Canadians have always been flooded by American TV and the creation of our broadcast watchdog — the CRTC — was to make sure we are NOT overwhelmed by American culture that has 9 times the population than we do.

Thus far, Canada has done a good job keeping American shit bag right wingers from exporting their brand of toxic values.

The Nordic countries see more people suffer from SAD due to their latitude. Same thing happens in Alaska. 

The average American pays 10% of income on healthcare every year, with some families paying up to 16% of their income.

Many people also spend 10-20% of their income on student loans/college.

The Nordic countries have universal or cheaper childcare/parental leave, while in the US families pay about 10% of their income on childcare and don't get parental leave by law.

While the average US citizen pays a lower effective tax rate than the Nordic countries, we are hit with private taxes to corporations. A family in the US with a child and student loans and Healthcare is paying MORE than someone in the Nordic countries with WORSE outcomes. Because Math.

If paying a little more in taxes means Im never going to be:

However you can't deny that most laws in European derived societies descend from a set of standards encoded in religion. Where else would they come from? A king? You like to say that we're anti-anything different but we are not . For example, in the Catholic Church there is a document issued by the "Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith" dated 1992 that explicitly states:
