‘Take the blue pill:’ Bart Scott suggests Bills’ Josh Allen use Viagra to stay warm vs. Patriots

Former linebacker Bart Scott wants to be the Morpheus to Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen’s Neo, but he’s not offering a choice.

Instead Scott is telling Allen, “Take the blue pill” if he hopes to stay warm at Highmark Stadium on Saturday night when the Bills host the Patriots on Wild Card weekend.

The blue pill Scott is referring to, however, is Viagra. According to Scott, Viagra--once a heart medication--builds up circulation to keep you warm. Staying warm could potentially be an issue for Allen.

Allen shared with the media earlier this week that he has circulation issues. With the temperature for the game expected to be near zero with a “Real Feel” close to -7 degrees, the quarterback said his plan is to keep his toes as warm and dry as possible.

“I think the most important thing for me is, I don’t know why, I got bad circulation in my feet,” Allen told the media. “My toes get really cold and they go numb a little bit. So just keeping those suckers warm and as dry as possible, as well as the hands — obviously that’s a big emphasis for quarterbacks, you need your hands to throw. So keeping those extremities as warm as possible.”

Scott on the ironically titled ESPN show “Get Up” told the panel about his solution for Buffalo’s star player.

“Is Josh Allen listening? Can people get this message to him? Viagra. Take some Viagra before the game, baby,” Scott said. “That’ll get that circulation going right.”

Met with stunned silence, Scott added, “A lot of us take Viagra. Viagra opens up the blood vessels. A lot of NFL players, at least in my day, took Viagra... Viagra was first a heart medicine, right? So, it builds up circulation, which makes sure that it gets the circulation to the feet. I swear I’m not trying to be funny.”

Allen has not mentioned whether or not he will follow Scott’s advice, but tight end Dawson Knox said he would not be using Viagra on Saturday.

Buffalo is in for some stiff competition when they host the Patriots on Wild Card weekend. The Bills and Patriots split the regular season series and will be fighting for their playoff lives from Highmark Stadium.
