Bruins capture victory early in overtime.

Score: Sabres 3 | Bruins 4 (OT)

Shots: BUF 24 | BOS 41

Buffalo Sabres Goals: Vinnie Hinostroza, Jeff Skinner, Alex Tuch

Boston Bruins Goals: Craig Smith, Nick Foligno, Taylor Hall, Charlie Coyle

Plus 1: Roster Moves

Man, was it good to see Skinner and Hinostroza back in the lineup this afternoon. Both players were activated a few short hours prior to puck drop, and both wasted no time getting right back into the swing of things.

Head coach Don Granato was also cleared before the game and was able to join the team behind the bench after missing the last few games. He indicated that his side effects from COVID-19 were mild and that he felt the vaccines did a good job protecting him.

Meanwhile, we also learned that two Sabres video coaches are out - still out - and working remotely.

Elsewhere, the Sabres made a few roster moves before the game. With Skinner & Hinostroza back, Buffalo sent JJ Peterka, Arttu Ruotsalainen & Brandon Biro and defenseman Oskari Laaksonen to the Amerks.

Peterka wasted no time, scoring this absolute beauty in Springfield:

Minus 1: A Loss is a Loss

The Sabres could’ve skated out of Boston with two points, but they blew a 3-1 lead and allowed the Bruins to command control and force it to overtime. Then, just 34 seconds into the extra frame, Coyle scores to give the black & yellow the win. It’s that kind of loss that just stings; they were close, they could’ve had it, but they sat back just a little too much and we all saw what happened next.

Plus 1: Tuch & Krebs

Alex Tuch scored his first goal in a Sabres uniform, and Peyton Krebs - one of the few players still around in Buffalo from the recent surge of recalls - had a great move for the assist on the play.

Comment of the Game

“Just so easy. This was a total choke job.” - Matt-G

Final Thoughts

Meh. It was good to see Hinostroza & Skinner back, and to see them both score in their first games returning is an extra bonus. Honestly, the Sabres are lucky to have gotten a point out of this one based on how they blew it.

Buffalo’s back at it on Thursday - which seems like a lifetime away, if I’m being honest - as the San Jose Sharks come to town for a 7 p.m. matchup.

You guys know I watch every game for 50 years. I don't get excited easily.

This coaching staff has no clue, they let Rusmus Dahlin take cheap shots the entire game and not one player will defend him

At one point Brad Marchand slammed Rasmus Dahlin's head to the ice 3 time in 5 seconds. THAT is ridiculous.

This is happening every game. If  I was Terry Pegula, I order Adams to trade for a goon. An enforcer (Rob Ray type player)

This team will never win shit without some team unity

I am so angry I can't even type anymore, sorry

Sabres up 3-1 THEN LOSE 1 minutes into overtime, Bullshit

Terry?

Terry?

Kimchi runs the team not Terry.

Terry is back on the new super mega yacht picking out the new backsplash in the 4th kitchen.

I agree with all of this and the fact of the matter is that this isn't even close to playoff hockey where the hitting ,cheap shots and intimidation is magnified greatly. Players like Dahlin are mostly invisible now and I can't even imagine him in a playoff series.Goons are a thing of the past but drafting players with toughness and a mean streak are essential in todays NHL. The Sabres don't seem to understand any of this and will continue to covet "highly skilled" European players that with few exceptions disappear when the tough game begins. Kim Pegula sucks.

Goons need to make a comeback especially for this team. I get your point though

As soon as it went to OT, I told my kid the Bruins would win in 30 seconds. And Marchand, I saw that. Eakin was the only player that went after Marchand. Last night I went to the Peoria Rivermen game with my kids (vs Evansville). Twice Evansville players ran the Peoria goalie, hard and twice got away with it.

Our seats were second row, center Ice. The arena was pretty empty - thanks to a winter storm that back in Buffalo, we'd call a light snowfall (About 2").

I promise the team knew I was there, letting them know how heartless they were playing. They lost 7-3

The teams looks okay I guess but the 3rd period brutal

This is a good 2 period team

Maybe they can lobby Gary Bettman to change the rules of this 100+ year game to make it only 2 periods in length.

He obviously likes the City of Buffalo since he saved them when they went bankrupt.
