Not one waived Buffalo Bill in on a 53 man roster

Recommended Posts

Once the hysteria died down after the Buffalo Bills trimmed their roster to 53 players last Saturday, it was expected that at least a few of the Bills’ cuts would sign with other teams. However, with the waiver period passed and a couple more days subsequently gone, none of the Bills’ cuts have been signed to another team’s roster.

Looking at that initial cut list, it’s pretty clear that there weren’t many must-have players jettisoned from the roster. Only defensive end Max Valles even signed with another team’s practice squad, as he returned to the team that initially drafted him in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders. Players like Brandon Reilly and Jonathan Williams, both of whom made strong impressions throughout the preseason for Buffalo, went unclaimed upon their release, as well, with Reilly joining the Bills’ practice squad almost immediately after clearing waivers. Williams signed with the Denver Broncos on their practice squad. The only player cut by the Buffalo Bills who appears on a 53-man roster is Colt Anderson, who was cut by the team when Joe Webb signed. He re-signed with the team almost immediately.

This seems to indicate that Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane decided to cut the right players on Saturday. As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how many of these now-former Bills find a home on an NFL roster.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there something about contract guarantees? If a team waits until next week, a player's contract isn't guaranteed, but if they sign before week 1 it is?

Well that would be because all the talent left in free agency or was traded away and the guys cut aren't good enough to make one of the weakest rosters in the NFL. So I guess if this author got paid to write this garbage that's good for him, but it also indicates what we already knew, this team is garbage.

There are some players who we can all agree are admirable.

Eric Wood is a great leader but a shell of his former self.

Kyle Williams is another great leader but it's the 11th hour of his career.

Tyrod is a good dude. Carries himself well and is careful with the ball. But we all know he's not good enough.

McCoy is the best player we've had on this team in a decade. Still, he's an over 30 RB with a big pay check.

Dareus is a lazy piece of shit.

honestly, the team sucks. The entire roster needs to be turned over. Everyone needs to go.

Correct.

But a lot of posters here don't understand how this works...

This may be true as of today but some of these guys will likely emerge on another team in the coming weeks, especially a solid back up LB like Gerald Hodges.
