The Bills should hire Scot McCloughan as a "consultant" tomorrow...

Recommended Posts

Yes, apparently Scot McCloughan has a problem (although we don't have video....).

But he has spent the last 10 months getting ready for the draft (and free agency). He has a lot of player knowledge and has shown over the years he has a good eye for talent.

If the Bills were thinking outside the box they would hire him as a "consultant" to share his player evaluations of both college prospects and free agents. {You are not asking him to do anything but share his knowledge. You are not asking him to hang out in the locker room}.

But in the 3rd round, or the 5th round, etc. if the Bills are trying to decide which Wide Receiver or Linebacker to draft it can not hurt to ask for his input. If Scot only helps pick one good player in the draft - his fee will be worth it. Nailing one draft pick can mean the difference between a mediocre draft and a good draft. Or do we think Whaley is the best drafting GM on the planet and he doesn't need any help.

I think they could hire--for free--some members from this forum to nail those late round picks--jk.

Draft wish list:

1-WR Corey Davis Western Michigan--pick 5 Titans

2-S Obi Melifonwu Connecticut--2nd round--pick 56 Raiders

3-CB Cordrea Tankersley Clemson--3rd round--pick 97 Dolphins

5-LB Connor Harris Lindenwood--undrafted--picked up by Jets

5-OL Conor McDermott UCLA--6th round--pick 211 Patriots-claimed off waivers by Bills

6-QB Chad Kelly Ole Miss--Mr irrelevant--Broncos

Stop it already.

The guy needs to dry out and get his liver in order first. Life matters.

We really have no idea if he is drinking, or not. But if he is he doesn't have to sit in a dark room to "dry out".

He can watch some film, go over his notes, and answer the phone when the Bills call. Not too stressful. Might even be good for him.

Actually this is a pretty good idea. Rumors are the Redskins trumped up the drinking stuff to fire him with cause so they wouldn't have to pay him.

I heard it may have been just as much about a power struggle between him and Bruce Allen.

Scot is excellent evaluating talent. The Bills drafts the last 4-5 years haven't been perfect. Maybe a "Consultant" like McCloughan could help.

Decent GM but it shows a lot that he was fired the first day of free agency and a month before the draft.

It shows the Redskins are totally disfunctional. Especially how this was handled. If he was having any substance issues, they should have helped him, not smear his name in the media.

He is considered to have an excellent eye for prospective talent. We don't want to hire him as an employee, just as a "consultant". Our drafting needs help. Another opinion, from someone that has been scouting talent for the last 10 months and has a track record of successful picks couldn't hurt the Bills draft room.

Scot McCloughan has a long track record of drafting and/or talent evaluation. If you asked any number of NFL executives/GMs who was better at draft evaluation, Doug Whaley or McCloughan, I am pretty sure Whaley would not be the answer.
