Bills vs Chiefs UPDATE

Reports are that if Milano plays, it will be in specialized roles and in a limited capacity.

Jordan Poyer, Jon Feliciano ruled out for Bills - Texans

Recommended Posts

NFL: Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Taron Johnson and Efe Obada are questionable.

When the Buffalo Bills host the Houston Texans on Sunday, two starters won’t be able to play. Safety Jordan Poyer, who suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of the team’s previous game, hasn’t been able to practice all week. And left guard Jon Feliciano won’t be available after suffering a concussion during practice on Wednesday. Speaking to WGR550 on Friday morning, Sean McDermott confirmed that neither player would be available. In addition, cornerback Taron Johnson (groin) and defensive end Efe Obada (ankle) are both questionable.

With Poyer unavailable, except Jaquan Johnson to step into his first career start. The third year pro has played sparingly on defense so far in his career, but he’s a special teams mainstay. His most memorable play didn’t actually count, an interception in his rookie season that was called back because of a teammate’s penalty. Johnson doesn’t exactly face a murderer’s row on the Texans, but it’ll be a major milestone for the young safety.

Replacing Feliciano in the lineup will be Ike Boettger. Last season, Boettger started at left guard down the stretch, but he was replacing Cody Ford. With Ford and Feliciano playing on opposite sides this year, it’s probable but not certain for Ford to remain at right guard this weekend. For depth, the Bills don’t have access to rookie Jack Anderson (who was signed by the Eagles), but Jamil Douglas is on the practice squad, available for promotion.

Obada’s absence won’t be too noteworthy, since he’s already been a healthy scratch this season, and the team still has Boogie Basham waiting in the wings. For Johnson, though, it would be tough to see the team play without him. He’s been one of the best players on the defense this year. Cam Lewis, a potential practice squad promotion, would probably be the next man up.

Both sensible losses. 2 pretty good starters.

Feel more confident on the defensive side though. Jaquan Johnson should fill the void well.

On offense I assume Ike Boettger steps up ? Not to enthused on that one.

two big losses

big step down from jose feliciano to ike boatenger. you can tell bc they actually released boettenger last year after camp and were able to resign him bc nobody else was interested. hes improved a little from that time but not a lot, and is a big step down from feliciano. texans still have a decent pass rush so allen is going to be running to the boundaries more than usual as boettenger is sure to be targeted as a weak point. good thing josh is still very good when he has to dodge rushers

jaquan johnson is an unknown as a starter, but hes been in the system three years so he should have it down cold. now he just has to let his athletic skills get him to where hes supposed to be bc he should be complete mentally. it will be interesting to watch to see how he performs bc you know the offense is going to try to challenge him early on

if taron johnson cant go that would be three big losses. siran neal is next on the depth chart, and this will be his first big test since he converted from safety a year or so ago. he doesnt have the long speed to cover from the outside, we learned that at the end of last year and in the preseason. but at his lighter weight he might have the quickness to do pretty well in the slot. hes a good tackler so when he has to help with run support that shouldnt be a problem. hes another unknown as a starter there so it will be interesting to see how he does

obada is good but not so good that hes hard to replace. the bills kept two thousand dlinemen for a reason so they should have a capable answer there pretty easy. boogie will probably be his replacement in the rotation

This is probably the most confident I’ve been about a Bills game…since…maybe…ever?

If Miles Davis comes into OP and even makes this game close….the Bills are trash.

idk why the nfl just doesnt mandate everyone wear one of those gazoo soft shells over their helmets. yeah, at first they would look big and silly, but with everyone wearing them it would become normal looking pretty quickly. and it would cut down on concussions so much that it would be worth it

they still arent calling offensive players for leading with the helmet, which they are supposed to do. rbs literally spear guys with their helmets and it doesnt get called. you see helmets colliding on running plays all the time, that cant be good for either guys brains

gazoo helmets and calling offensive players for leading with the helmet would cut down the vast majority of concussions. but the nfl doesnt really care about the players health, they only do what is necessary to appease fan outrage

McDermott has firmly instilled the “next man up” mentality in this team. They’ll be fine.

Not a big deal, IMO.  The Texans suck ASS so sitting these guys should have minimal impact.  :niterider:
