It's also clear that as ex-cons, they paid their debt. And regardless, being a criminal just not absolve you being an American citizen

Bullshit....I'm a convicted felon, the very first thing they tell you is that by pleading guilty you surrender your right to vote, you don't like it, don't plead to the charges, and if your found guilty by a jury, its most likely you did it. Its called responsibility, deal with it

It actually does. You don’t have the same right as a regular citizen if you commit a serious crime. This has been around forever, surprised you never heard of it. Why take a law away?

HipKat is obviously a kind and enlightened bleeding heart and we're not.  LOL.  Also, he thinks an ex-con is much more likely to vote for a dem instead of s Republican.  If that wasn't the case, he would never support them getting their right to vote back.  I hope he's not fooling anyone.

So because they say you give up your right to vote that should be right and just, right? I just don't agree that because somebody committed a crime and did time that they're no longer an American citizen, apparently

There is no evidence of mass non citizens voting. None.

I always thought you liked the way other countries do things. Like health care.

But, other countries also require I.D. to vote. Like our next door neighbors, Mexico and Canada. Also, Norway (those free loving socialists!), Israel, Germany, Iceland, Switzerland! France, Northern Ireland, etc.

Australia doesn’t require I.D., other than to register (fascists!). Nor does New Zealand, U.K., or Denmark.

Are there poor people in Mexico? Maybe Victor knows. How do they get to voting places?

So we should take peoples word for it lol?

Only the democrats.

He’s too far gone on this issue.

nobody gives 2 fucks about the deficit, so to appease f8, I propose sending stretch limos as shuttles to get ID at the DMV. They can be filled with booze, whores and assorted pharmaceuticals and weed and edibles and demo tapes of the last 12 wannabe rappers who were gunned down “just when they were turning there lives around”. That way, everyone gets to vote.

that way, we can stop the 17 people* in this country that vote illegally.

* f8’s estimate.

So it's possible that millions of non citizens vote in elections, yet there is no evidence of it. This leads you to the conclusion that it happens? Seems like quite the logical leap of faith.

If human beings don’t cheat, why do other countries require voter ID? Don’t they care about how the poor get to ID’s in say, France?

you heard it here first. Requiring voter ID is an affront to poor people. You might even call it an abomination and crime against humanity.

No they didn’t, part of their debt is that they lose some of their rights for raping, killing, dealing ect. Why is that hard to understand? This isn’t anything new. Has nothing to do with politics. This is what my wife does for a living they reoffend that’s why it’s already a thing.

Way to have the backs of ex-cons.  Unreal.  Dope.

I thought one of the punishments of being a felon, was, YOU DON’T DESERVE THE RIGHTS US LAW-ABIDING PEOPLE  DO.

But, I will say, if someone is truly trying to be a good member of society, they should be able to work toward having some rights back.

if you’re going to make it impossible to assimilate back into society, then back to criminality is the only choice left.

Why is that stupid? It’s clear that they make bad judgements which is why they currently are not allowed to vote in most states. In a study done between 2005 - 2014 83% of the cons released from prison reoffended within that time. So they continue to make bad decisions. Call me old fashioned, but I want don’t a drug dealer who goes right back to dealing to decide who the next President is. That’s IS just stupid!!

YEAH, BUT 17% DIDN’T!! *🤣🤣🤣

Idk maybe FL is different, but I got mine for free from my high school. If a senior wants to sign up they get it free, my daughter got hers the same way. When lost mine a few years ago I’m pretty sure they replaced it for free or I wouldn’t have ordered it because they never ask for it anyway they always check my driver’s license. Indiana is like $13.00 I think. I don’t mind a discount for the poor it doesn’t cost much for cards to be made I’m sure. But then F8 would want them all to get a free Oprah car on the tax payers so they can get there.

Speaking of Harpo, I wonder why she, Tyler Perry, Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, and other black power players (throw the BET founder in there too) don’t use their pull to heps a brutha out with voter IDs. Not necessarily their own money, just their influence. They could help poor people get basic ID’s for voting, couldn’t they? Since the majority of poor people are white, it would help them too! Kind of an side benefit to white peeps!!

But, no, they are for No ID for voting.

They gave up their right, what's so hard about that? Why should I be given the right-back when I knew the consequences? They say they gave up the right because they did, don't like it, make it part of the deal that you can keep the right to vote, not hard, don't commit the crime, and then come back whining you can't vote. Don't do the crime in the first place and it won't be an issue.

Because not all felons are violent and didn't rape or kill anyone. Dude, it's my opinion. You don;t have to agree with it but I don;t need you telling me I shouldn't have it, either.

My cousin did time in Elmira when he was about 20 because he was a wild kid that got caught up in a bad group of people. It changed his life. Now he's pushing 50 and you'd never, ever think he ever went to prison. He has a great job, great friends and a great life - but he can't vote. That's fair?
