Bills draft pick rated “below average”

Recommended Posts

R1 (30) BUFFALO BILLS: EDGE GREGORY ROUSSEAUMIAMI (FL.)

Pick Grade: Below Average

Rousseau is a physical freak at 6-foot-7 with 34.75-inch arms and 11-inch hands. He opted out of the 2020 season and carries with him concerns about how he’ll fare as a true edge defender, though. Rousseau rushed the passer just 283 times in his college career, anywhere from 0-technique to stand-up outside linebacker. He earned a 71.3 pass-rushing grade from outside of the tackle in 2019, but when he rushed from the interior, it spiked to 85.1.

IF the Bills weren't taking a dynamic RB - and I didn't think they would, I hoped they would focus on the O-Line so that Moss and Motor would have better running lanes and holes to get through, not to mention better protection of Allen. The Bills Offensive Line has been suspect for years.

Picking one Edge Rusher made sense. Tak9ing two with the first 2 picks, didn't, to me. I'm not the Draft guru most of you guys are, so the jury is still out, although, I still say you look at what stopped you from taking the next step and fill that need first, then work on future projects...

Probably why I'm not a GM somewhere.....

Yeah because the two teams who picked them had no business picking running backs. Especially the Jags who already have a very good RB. The jags picking ETN to be reunited with his college QB is some cheesy Hallmark shit right there. Dumb.

100% Everything I've read on the Jags picking him marked Urban down as being totally retarded since they already have a good RB in the backfield. They screwed us more than they helped themselves.

I just want us good and deep(that's what she said) at key positions for long term success,  especially after we sign Allen long term. Running back isn't one of them. They grow on trees and they don't last long.

Lol the two RBs that everyone wanted were rated as POOR picks.

Thats because you should never draft a RB in the first round. What a waste of a pick.

Rousseau  reminds me of Justin Tuck. Excited to see what he can bring to the table.

Bro we slammed the Allen pick the day of and for awhile thereafter.

Maybe give the guy at least 8 games before you jump on the "he's trash" bandwagon.

Our defensive line sucked as a whole last year.  Regardless of Hughes win rate or whatever other metric we can pull up, the DL sucked at getting consistent pressure and taking over games.

Taking swings with Rousseau and Basham makes a ton of sense, especially when you factor in Hughes and Addison are 99% a lock to be gone after this year.

Just thinking aloud, if this kid had back to back 15 sack seasons with the Canes would he have even fallen to 30? Answer honestly and show your work.  Also, it would be kind of interesting to see what people said about Josh Allen in 2018 or trading for Diggs last year.

He would've been top 5.

So Lit what's your take on the Bills 30th pick Gregory Rousseau? You're known to post controversial topics without giving an opinion, then defer to I was not the author if the post proves otherwise.

I agree with the sentiment that this draft class was an oddity compared to other years. It will be interesting to see which teams picked up garbage and which ones got absolute steals. Hoping we're in the latter category with Rousseau but who knows.

He would have been a top 10 pick had he played + had 10+ sacks again.

It’s funny you mention Allen. I kind of see him as the Allen of defense ends.

If Beane didn't draft Rousseau, who should he have selected.  Jayson Oweh?  Joe Tryon?   Those were the next two picks.
Tyson Campbell? Elijah Moore?
(Teven Jenkins was picked at 39.  I would have been okay with him...).

PFF?  HA!  They have no credibility.

I looked at their 2018 ratings & they had the Bills average & the Jets elite.  3 years later & the Jets top pick was traded away to reset the QB spot & only 1 player, the mediocre TE Chris Herndon is a starter.  Considering the Jets had no picks in the 2nd, 5th, & 7th rounds and half their draft class was 6th rounders they based their grade on Sam Darnold & were wrong.

I guess I don't understand the issue here.  It calls him a physical freak who can rush from multiple spots on the DL.  On top of that, he produced great sack numbers and TFLs.  Oh well.
