The Buffalo Bills worked out myriad return specialists last week with veteran Andre Roberts allowed to sign elsewhere. One of their targets signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mathew Sexton, a 5’11” wideout from Eastern Michigan, went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he had workouts with the Bills, the Steelers, and the New England Patriots last week. Sexton had shown some return ability in The Spring League, and while he didn’t do much returning in college, his speed combined with his recent success in the developmental league bought him the chance to prove his mettle in the NFL.

Sexton was clocked in the low-4.3s in the 40-yard dash at Eastern Michigan’s pro day last week. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero was first to report the signing.

In his four-year career at Eastern Michigan, Sexton caught 100 passes for 1,335 yards and nine touchdowns. He rushed six times for 23 yards in his career.

again, another under the radar guy who the bills have obviously followed and think they may be able to turn him into something. adding competition at the position at the very least, they could unearth a better player than hes shown so far. he does have a decent amount of catches and tds in his career, way more than just a kick returner

this is what they do. they fill the team with guys theyve followed all along, and bring them to camp to see what they got and how moldable they are. this is the formula that got them to turn this program around in record time

so stop with the yawning and have faith in the process
