i think both parties are america damaging cults, with republicans relying more on violence and allegiance to the rich, and the dems becoming crazier by the day (antifa, BLM. defunding cops)

we are fucked if we let either side get too much control, like the dems have now and like when the repubs had 2/3 control of the senate and became totally intransigent. once joe fixes the sabotage the repubs did to the ACA and that system gets permanently embedded, we need to go back to divided gubmint to protect ourselves from the party cultists

Regarding the parties, I agree with you. Both are far from perfect, however the sane wing of the Republican party has ideas that people may not agree with, but that is part of democracy. The trump wing though is unhinged, dangerous, insane and destroying the country. We see many examples here and like a cancer, it needs to be excised. No doubt a cult. Cults though have sad endings like Koresh and the Kool-Aid one. So I don't know what the solution is. The other cults were relatively small. This dangerous one though numbers in the millions and are well represented in Congress. This unfortunately is going to be a long term problem. The relatively sane wing of the party needs to cleave themselves from the cult and separate.

If the 2016 US Presidential election is ever investigated it will be the Democrats who crash and burn.  Longtime Democrat Donald Trump accepted a bribe or was extorted by the Clintons and Democrat Party to run as a Republican "plant" to help Democrat Hillary Clinton win the White House.

It backfired.

i think the republicans are self-immolating due to the trump wing. that means the problem is most likely to take care of itself eventually. they will keep losing elections as long as they allow him and his henchmen to have a place in the party bc that will keep them fractured. a big chunk of republicans will never forget his cult of personality destructiveness and his treasonous attempt to violently overthrow valid election results via the proxy use of militant militia types that killed people and planned to take congresspeople as hostages. he didnt fool anybody, even the stupid, by including the word "peaceful" in his riling up speech, especially after sending rudy out there the utter the clearly dog whistling phrases "fight, fight, fight" and "trial by combat" first

thats going to give the dems a ton of room to keep winning elections until the repubs wise up and abandon the trump base for self-preservation, which they should do now and get it over with. rip the band-aid off now and spend the next four years rebuilding their brand. most people would come back to their party, and with the dems losing their minds theyd get a lot in the middle to support them, too. let trump bellow all he wants, start a third party full of all the crazies, he could even end up in jail. all of these are better than letting his influence remain in the party itself. but amazingly, they cant seem to see this. they are trying to straddle a spreading schism in the rocks and are going to end up pummeling into the chasm

but thats not a good thing as the dems will surely fill in that space with shit level over-reaching, giving power to the POC racists and militants and other damaging elements in their party
