AFC Playoff Picture: Buffalo Bills control AFC East, but conference losses really hurt

Recommended Posts

Pittsburgh Steelers v Tennessee Titans

The Bills will need a lot of help to move up the AFC playoff standings.

The Buffalo Bills have been beaten by the top two teams in the AFC over the last week. While it may prove they aren’t Super Bowl contenders just yet, they are still in remarkably good position for a postseason run and the AFC East crown. It’s been a really long time since they won the division, so that would at least be a positive step.

Here is where the AFC shakes out after six weeks:

1. Tennessee Titans (5-0, 4-0 AFC)
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-0, 3-0 AFC)
3. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1, win over BAL)
4. Baltimore Ravens (5-1, loss to KC)
5. Buffalo Bills (4-2, 3-2 AFC)
6. Cleveland Browns (4-2, 2-2 AFC, win over IND)
7. Indianapolis Colts (4-2, 2-2 AFC, loss to CLE)
8. Las Vegas Raiders (3-2)
9. Miami Dolphins (3-3)
10. Denver Broncos (2-3, win over NE)
11. New England Patriots (3-2, loss to DEN)
11. Cincinnati Bengals (1-4-1)
13. Los Angeles Chargers (1-4)
14. Houston Texans (1-5, win over JAX)
15. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5, loss to HOU)
16. New York Jets (0-6)

Here is the current playoff picture:

1. Tennessee Titans (5-0, 4-0 AFC)
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-0, 3-0 AFC)
3. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1)
4. Buffalo Bills (4-2)
5. Baltimore Ravens (5-1, loss to KC)
6. Cleveland Browns (4-2, win over IND)
7. Indianapolis Colts (4-2, loss to CLE)

8. Las Vegas Raiders (3-2)
9. Miami Dolphins (3-3)
10. Denver Broncos (2-3, win over NE)
11. New England Patriots (3-2, loss to DEN)
11. Cincinnati Bengals (1-4-1)
13. Los Angeles Chargers (1-4)
14. Houston Texans (1-5, win over JAX)
15. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5, loss to HOU)

Tennessee bye
Indianapolis at Pittsburgh
Cleveland at Kansas City
Baltimore at Buffalo

The Titans and Steelers face off in Week 7 for the top spot in the conference. The Chiefs play the Broncos while the Ravens and Colts are on their bye. Cleveland faces the Bengals and Buffalo faces the Jets in what seem like pretty important wins for both teams.

Stop your crying. Pats lost , therefore buffalo lost. Can't have a 3 game lead this early. That's bad for tv and league interest.
