Mueller team 'accidentally wiped more than 15 phones'

Recommended Posts

Very clever trick by the Mueller hoax investigators. Put the phone on airplane mode and then "accidentally" guess the passcode wrong enough times that it wipes itself clean. My educated guess is that they were ordered to do this after those Strzok/Page text messages went public. There's no telling what other kinds of messages were being passed back and forth but I'm going to guess something like this:

"Hey, we don't have shit on this Trump Russia thing. What should we do?"

"I guess we'll keep investigating until we find something else and arrest some of his colleagues on process crimes to make this look legit."

"Yeah, that's the ticket, fuck those Trumptards!"

Mueller team 'accidentally wiped more than 15 phones'

More than 15 phones belonging to the investigative team of then-Special Counsel Robert Mueller were wiped before they were handed over to the Office of the Inspector General to be examined for proof of potential bias.

Mueller and his team were investigated by the Department of Justice for alleged biased in its pursuit of any proof that Trump or his administration colluded with Russia.

The investigation concluded that there was no bias but as part of it, Mueller's team was told to hand over cellphones. Many had been wiped of their data.

Among the reasons given was that people had forgotten their passcodes, there was irreversible screen damage or people had lost them.

Andrew Weissman, Mueller's deputy, 'accidentally wiped' his phone on two occasions after entering the wrong passcode too many times in March 2018, and lawyer James Quarles' phone 'wiped itself' without his intervention, the documents claim.

A phone belonging to FBI lawyer Lisa Page - who was caught exchanging anti-Trump texts with FBI agent Peter Strzok - had also been wiped by the time it was handed over.

The wiped phone information emerged in newly released documents from the DoJ at the request of Judicial Watch, a conservative group.

Attorney Greg Andres also had a phone that was wiped because of a forgotten passcode.

Records indicate that the phones of both Kyle Freeny and Rush Atkison were wiped accidentally after the wrong passcode was entered on too many occasions.

Other officials had their names redacted but made claims that they unintentionally restored their phones to their factory settings, which deleted all information pertaining to communication.

One redacted person's phone was 'in airplane mode, no passcode provided, data unable to be recovered so had to be wiped.'

The OIG opened the investigation into possible bias in the origins of the Russia Investigation, determining that while there was 'significant concerns' with how the investigation was conducted, the FBI did compile with policies when they launched the probe.

The report found that there was no intentional misconduct or political bias surrounding the probe's launch and efforts to seek a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant to monitor Carter Page, Trump's former campaign adviser.

It did find, however, that the FBI took part in a number of errors when in the application process. This included at least 17 'significant inaccuracies and omissions' in the Page applications.

Attorney General Bill Barr has publicly disagreed with Inspector General Michael Horowitz's findings.

Prior to the 2016 presidential election, Page had exchanged anti-Trump texts with the ex-FBI head of counterintelligence Peter Strzok during an extramarital affair.

The texts were seized upon by Trump as evidence of alleged political bias.

Trump has long decried Mueller's investigation into him as a baseless witch hunt designed specifically to take him down.

There is no accidentally. The investigation was over, those phones were issued for the investigation and just like any other time where somebody is issued a phone for a job, when that job is over, the phones are factory reset. The same bullshit came up on another forum where more sensible people understood deal. Not a controversy. Course when you support Donald Trump I guess you get used to everything being a controversy

Hip is, of course, wrong and has no idea what he's babbling about.  He's a real Washington insider you know.  LOL.  He knows all the "rules" for these things.  Not.

I mean.... I gotto say, this smells like rotted food.  There is no procedure for "accidentally" wiping your government phone nor not turning it in as is.  It is no different than shredding documents.

Over a dozen members of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russiagate-investigating team “accidentally” wiped their phones before they could be inspected and “lost” the phone of disgraced FBI lawyer Lisa Page with anti-Trump texts.

Mueller and his team were tasked with investigating accusations of President Donald Trump’s “collusion” with Russia during the 2016 election, but found no evidence of it. In their final report they tried to insinuate that Trump was guilty of obstruction of justice, but stopped short of outright saying so.

An 87-page document, released by the Justice Department on Thursday under the Freedom of Information Act, reveals that Mueller’s investigators “accidentally” or deliberately wiping their devices when the DOJ inspector-general asked for them.

At least 12 officials, whose names are redacted, claimed to have accidentally erased all data from their phones. Five officials are mentioned by name: Andrew Weissman, James Quarles, Greg Andre, Kyle Freeny and Rush Atkinson. Their phones allegedly wiped themselves or reset after too many wrong password entries.

As many as 31 phones may have been affected, including the devices that had been “reassigned.”

Weissman was Mueller’s principal deputy. He is generally considered to have actually been in charge of the ‘Russiagate’ probe, especially after the former FBI director couldn’t recall much of anything during his July 2019 testimony before Congress.

Another discovery in the document was that the phone belonging to FBI lawyer Lisa Page got “lost” by the Mueller team, and the name of the official who had custody of it: Christopher Greer. It was eventually retrieved, but the IG report found that it had been wiped two weeks after Page had left the special counsel team.

The DOJ IG found that Mueller's office lost Lisa Page's iPhone. IG later found the phone was wiped two weeks after Page left the Mueller teamNow we know who had it when Page left—Christopher Greer.IG: https://t.co/rZSj1ikk4hDOJ: https://t.co/DUjvvVd8Kepic.twitter.com/aSesRztOYQ

Page was involved both in the early stages of the special counsel investigation and the original ‘Crossfire Hurricane’ probe of the Trump campaign – alongside Agent Peter Strzok, with whom she had an extramarital romantic relationship. Both were quietly removed from Mueller’s team after the discovery of text messages that disparaged Trump voters and even referred to “stopping” his election via an “insurance policy.”

TBH, the lack of respect that this investigation got from certain people, it’s no wonder they “accidentally” wiped their phones. I know I’ve had some shitty jobs I quit were some things “accidentally” happened when I left, also.
