This may be the hardest first month in Bills history

Recommended Posts

That'll be a rough ride for sure.  At the very least I'd like to see them beat the Cards and Rams.  :niterider:

Good....we get to see early on if Allen will tear it up or fall flat.  I tend to think this season will be our SB run.

I'd be good with 2-2.

Is NFL doing this league wide?  As in, get all the non-conference games out of the way first month, just in case NFL has to delay/miss the first month of the season, allows all teams to have the same amount of conference games/divisional games

EDIT: so yes, it is league wide.  Smart by the schedulers to do it that way.  Likely going to be a home-away-away-home schedule for us in the first 4 games.  Doubt they'll want to make teams make cross country trips in between weeks when they could just schedule the SF and AZ games back to back weeks

That’s the report, yep.

tough break getting hawks and niners in a season when we dont know if we will have ten weeks of before season team practices or ten days

those teams would have a massive advantage of being together longer even moreso, a qb way further along in its development. allen could start approaching that level, at least within spitting distance of it, by the end of ths season. but it probably wouldnt be game 1 even if it were a normal season. i think allen just needs more games to work on the things he has targeted to put him in a position to enter top dozen or so in the league. which would be plenty good enough if opies defense just stays as good or even improves. allen may be putting it together in a real nice way that gives them momentum going into the playoffs. so could the defense

thats when your team goes furthest in the playoffs, when you have strong rankings in several categories

easier to win it all with all offense, tho. its easier to put a flash in the pan offense for a year - mainly bc that really just takes one position: quarterback. and if hes relatively new, 1st or 2nd yr, youre not going to know for at least another year

allen is now past that. so it really is how far allen THIS YEAR can take them. how much of another jump does he make in production and ball security. i dont remember how many tos he had but he was working on it, he claimed. how much does he control the tos while still producing is really the direct question. he needs to expand his production, with his arms or his legs, without so many tos. his skill positions are A maybe A+ if knox can solve them drops

allen also needs to prioritize securing the ball. he improved as the year went on. he needs to continue

with the weapons he has now, if allen was able to raise his passing level to a consistent 63%, thats the minimum you can work with imo on a semi-reliable basis. add his running threat and thats a considerable amount the defense has to cover. it eventually becomes an advantage of the offense. allen could learn how to control plays, like the good ones do. dont pass up the fourth and eight inches with morse and moss straight up the middle

Well said, Meat, but I'm confused about something. You know how you always refer to McD as Opie?  Well, in this picture that Lit likes to use, he looks to me a lot more like Popeye, especially with his jaw jutting out and the absence of any hair, just like Popeye. Mind you, Ron Howard is now as bald as it gets up top, if I'm not mistaken, or at least on his way to a stand-out egg-shell look.  So which is he (McD, that is)?  Opie or Popeye?  Or can both be true? Also, do you think the Fonz will ever lose his cool for real? (This is something I've been concerned about for a while now.) I know I've given you a lot to think about. Thank you in advance.

Meh. I think think the only team the Bills don’t have a chance against is the Niners.

This defense has shown it can shut down anyone. Depending the order I think 3-1 is feasible.

now if Allen and or the offense is still playing circa 2019? 1-3

That's a lot of travel for us and for our opponents early in the year.

The Bills could face a number of young qb's this year (Miami(2), NE(2), Chargers, Denver, AZ).

It would be nice to get them early.

Honestly the only game there that would scare me is visiting San Fran. And that is if they do not get a Super Bowl hangover which is an actual thing. Seattle I think we can take because we are at home. And color me 100% unafraid of Arizona and the Rams.

This is all of course assuming our defense picks up where they left off in 2019 and Allen plays respectable ball.

Jokes about the fake news aside, I don't get what some are seeing here.  I tried to look for something relatively unbiased and picked nfl.com's power rankings.  Yeah, I know they don't mean a ton right now, but other than San Fran at #2(and a reminder they got a potential HOF tackle for some mid round picks), they have us at #6, Seattle at #13,  LA at #17, Arizon at #24.  CBS as 9ers, Bills, Seahawks at 4, 5, 6, and ESPN basically reverses the Bills and Seahawks.

I'm not sure where all the doom and gloom comes from, especially being I thought Lit liked ripping on the Rams and Goff whenever he could?  Seattle seems like it could be winnable about as much as losable.  Per this thread, home and away hadn't been mentioned, so I am not sure I feel the same way as some do/did.  I do recall the narrative that the schedule overall was going to be tougher, and this division was a big part of the reason, but on a game by game basis it doesn't seem horrible.  Even the gloomy SeanDelevan only sees SF as the only non-winnable game. :)

Not that I could fill in for Meat's answer, but my interpretation of Pigworth's question(Opie or Popeye) might be: "a grown up Opie who had been eating his spinach".  (before he became concerned about the oxylate content)

As for the Fonz losing his cool?  I reckon it's possible if global warming is indeed as bad as some say it is.  Or if he catches fever from CV-19.   Hey, I warned you I am no Meat, but I gave it a shot.

I think the 9ers O can be shut down pretty easily, the question becomes what can our O do against that pass rush, that's going to be a bitch.

SEA us always tough.

Rams aren't great and Az isn't there yet, but that O could be a monster.

Arizona is not a team to be taken lightly.  If the football gods are kind to the Bills they will play SEA, AZ, SF, LAR in that order.

Prisco's power rankings:

 4) SF

 5) BUF

 6) SEA

12) AZ

19) LAR

My question is, will Kyler Murray be able to see over his own O-linemen much less our D-Line? Inquiring minds wants to know!

lol nice!!!  That photo is great, despite the original intent of it on here, I find it a useful reminder that anger in the sense of righteous indignation can be a powerful tool when reserved for the right situations, even if you preach The Process or participate in a religion or any belief system.  Ive noticed Beane seems rather intent on counteracting the narrative that they only want "choir boys" to be part of The Process, taking multiple opportunities to explain it to folks.  I don't claim to be certain exactly why he is doing so, but found it interesting never the less.  :)  #Rage!!

Addendum: When I was younger I had a friend whose little sister was abducted and presumably murdered.  His father was a pastor, and I attended a service once, where I learned that term "righteous indignation".  The example he used is if he ever somehow stumbled upon a group of people doing some sort of sexual perversion with children, and how religious folk need not to try to ban anger from their lives, that it can be useful and not always a "sin".
