There is a guy, known to all of us, that is not doing well. Meathead. Hal. Please wish him well. He’s really hurting. He would be mad that I’m doing this, but I don’t care. He cares about people more than you would know. Thanks.

Thanks for that JC.  I opened this assuming something different(especially after the opening phrase), but said a prayer for Meat.  For those that may not be religious, I think attention and intent can help, whatever causes you to believe, as even Jesus said it was folks' faith that healed them.

Youre right that Meat would likely not be happy, but sometimes you have to do what you feel is right, like I mentioned a short bit ago about Coward Of The County.  Godspeed Meat/Hal(I never called him that before in all these years..i like to keep worlds separated and as a fan of names like saying "Meat", so maybe it will mean something).

ive been using that as a joke lately, using it as a reason to fight to live, when its obviously ridiculous to have that as a reason to fight to live. its a morbid joke but im in a morbid like situation. morbid humor becomes more acceptable the more morbid you really are

Hi Meat, I'm sorry to hear what you are going through.  I hope that you get something positive out of your meeting with the expert in April brings some good news for you to share.  God bless!

hate to be that guy, and double hate to have to say it, but there is no recovery from this disorder. unless youre lucky enough to get hit by a bus, theres a 100% chance it kills you. its an official progressive disease, meaning you can never stop it, you can only slow it down

it only became an official disease in 10/16 and there were so tiny the number of patients with its predecessor that there was no profit incentive to find treatments so literally about 12 scientist/physicians were working on it worldwide before then, not counting a smattering of universities. there were very expensive clinics you could go to, and three super specialists that took a year plus to get in with at the john hopkins type places in the country that were cheaper and covered by insurance

since this version of MCAS became an official disease, research activity has exploded. but they are soooo behind the curve. there is a derth of basic information about mast cell dysfunction. they need to figure out whats going on inside the mast cell, but they havent even figured out what most of the receptors are for. most studies are about efficacy of treatment, or which classications should be standardized for different standards of care? those kinds of early stage basic questions. meaning very little if anything that helps me

i have an appt the end of april with the man who discovered the disease and wrote the definative book that basically got it approved as a legit life-threatening disease. the fda now acknowledges mast cell diseases are way way more common than they thought. this dr estimates up to 40% of 'mystery diagnosis' cases are related to mast cell dysfunction. if hes only 1/10 correct thats still a massive number of cases. effective mast cell treatment could be revolutionary

but that aint gonna help me

so its a mountain of pills and feeling shitty all the time. thats why i dont post much and when i do its not nearly as positive as i used to be. im pretty bitchy

thank you for your thoughts and prayers. is that still a thing? good vibrations? no thats seventies. simple acknowledgement i guess

Stay positive and have Faith in the Lord. My older boy(now23) was diagnosed with a rare disease called Dermatomyositis and recently was diagnosed with lupus. He was diagnosed when he was 8 years old with Dermatomyositis and about 2 years ago with Lupus. My 16 yr old son is on the lower end of the Spectrum for Autism and is Learning Disabled.
My older boy almost died 3 times between the ages of 9 and 11 from his disease. He pretty much lived most of his childhood in a hospital in Pittsburgh,Pa. This disease literally attacks his muscle and eats away at it. He is on a bunch of Meds for the rest of his life and has to go for a treatment called Rituxin I think it’s called. He gets 4 treatments a year with 2 treatments 2 weeks apart twice a year. It’s treated like cancer pretty much and there is no cure for it. It pretty much just chases it into hiding and it attacks whenever. We won’t get into my problems seeing they are bad but no where close to what you are going thru.
I don’t understand what you are going thru but I can relate somewhat to it. We do a lot of praying and it has worked so far for him. We will definitely keep you in our prayers and pray that a treatment becomes available for you soon. I am not sure where you live but if you need anything just message me and we will do what we can. My wife and I have a WoodShop to help me thru my problems and we help those that need help or cheering up. Please to hesitate to contact me even if it’s just to have an ear to shout in.
