I'm a teacher in Rochester.

My school is likely closed until after Spring Break, which is a month out of school.

Smart move or overreaction?

Time will tell, but rest assured there will be criticism either way. It everything works out for the best it will be labeled an over reaction. If thousands of people die, it will be said that action wasn't taken soon enough.

A little of both at this point.  This is not the type of thing I was speaking of at the start.

No one owns the right answers/truth in this situation.  Not even Chuckles Schumer, though he'd have you believe so.

How in the world does THAT work? When I was in school they used to check your hands and arms to make sure you didn’t have crib notes written on your body. How do you test remotely?

The town of Greece had a school employee test positive so they obviously shut down.

When it's that close the decision to close was easy to make for the rest of the county.

Who knows how many people she passed it on to....

And I have a few projects to complete on my house that I'll be busy working on.

A month of free time just fell in my lap.

Kids suddenly at home all day will not have the discipline for school work.  Just don't see it working too well.

My grandkids already do some of their homework online. Some of the things are timed or something so they kind of have to do things in a timely manner. Maybe BCW knows more about that.

It's out of control.  Instilling fear for the sake of it.  This hype is completely over-the-top.  I predict a third of the world IS NOT going to die from this!  LOL.  Is this for clicks/ratings, etc.?  It's like watching the Weather Channel during hurricane season.  Calm down people - it's going to be okay.  As Aaron Rodgers once said: RELAX.  It's ridiculous.

The press, are doing what they are told, their job. And if they are ordered to make empty headed Americans afraid, then they will do it if they want to keep their high paying jobs.

Not sure if this falls under the guise of predictive programming or not, but we are definitely being programmed.

I'm catching up on this thread, but the genius before you(whom Im not supposed to reply to) missed that Fanback was listing Mexican beers, which FB probably assumed would be obvious.  While I subscribe to any, Modelo sponsors the UFC and has a slogan of "for those with a fighting spirit", so I think FanBack was correct to rank them as #2 behind Corona ;)

The current mortality rate for Coronavrus is 3.6%, not 1% and it's had 3 months to spread. The flu has had, what, 300,000 years, give or take?

lol I have only made it halfway through the thread, and spot a victim/perpetrator of fake news, who proudly was boasting in the Shoutbox and on other teams' message boards(what the?!?! spreading propaganda here isn't bad enough?  Or just more flamers there to get the ideas you need to spread here?  Sad, very sad) that he was against the media hype.  This post of his contradicts his claims of being a normal one of us, while he used an ad hominem attack of "unstable" against me without me saying a single word against him.  Clearly old Hipreplacement  has issues to work through.

so... my mom was watching a news channel and said this lady on it was reading pages on how to take care of yourself to avoid it.

She got to the " dont touch your face stuff... then had to turn the page. She couldnt, so she LICKED HER FINGER and then turned the page.

This is all planned, idiots. They are mocking you like a bad sitcom.

all the stats are pulling up are made up. You cant prove the origins of any of them. if cnn and fox are talking about all day, it means its not worth paying attention to.

... havent talked about terrorist acts one time in all this either.

I laughed out loud.  Even though I admonish you not to be too harsh toward them, sometimes it's difficult not to see the humor that others somehow miss.  Such as neither stupid "side" on here calling out the flaming TDS victims for outing their true nature for not having a thread on the national state of emergency, an actual Constitutional issue folks of any kind could be very concerned about.

I just go by math

After Iowa,. I don't think math, counting, or numbers in general are a strongpoint of the flaming left.

Careful DannyBoy.  Hip's what we call a renaissance man.  Doctor (Coronavirus Expert), Economist, Political Pundit, Trump-Hater, Fear-Monger.  You can trust whatever it is he has to say.  LOL

The beginning of your popular post reminded me of one of my favorite scenes of Slingblade, before the infamous "Doyle loses it", when Morris(a legendary Southern musician in real life, Col Bruce Hampton, ret) recites a poem....and the John Ritter character says he doesn't understand.  Doyle gives an explanation(before he goes apeshit on this group, something I'd realllllly like to do on occasion on here!!), I believe within the first couple of minutes of this....not that anything before or after it isn't very entertaining as well.   :)

Dwight Yoakum did some of the best acting in this film of any of I've ever seem, and likely deserved a best supporting role nomination if not an award:

The dark side removed Civics classes from the high school curriculum, so that the majority would know nothing about their rights being trampled.
