MSNBC's Chris Matthews speculates Democrats may be better off with Trump as president than Sanders

"I’m wondering whether the Democratic moderates want Bernie Sanders to be president," he said. "That’s maybe too exciting a question to raise. They don’t like Trump at all. Do they want Bernie Sanders to take over the Democratic Party in perpetuity? I mean, he takes it over, he sets the direction of the future of the party — maybe they’d rather wait four years and put in a Democrat that they like."

"I mean, that’s the big question, right?" Adrienne Elrod, a former senior adviser to Hillary Clinton, responded. "And you know, the narrative that you’re starting to see play out, Chris, is that there are people that are concerned, strategists that are concerned that Bernie Sanders being at the top of the ticket will force us to lose the House. I don’t necessarily think that’s the case."

Matthews has frequently disparaged the Vermont senator in recent days, accusing Sanders of being "full of it" and arguing that he'd be a "miserable president" if he got elected. He has also predicted that Sanders would lose 49 states if he went up against Trump in the general election.

The network host also warned his viewers about candidates who support socialism.

"You know, I have my own views of the word 'socialist,'" Matthews said earlier this month. "They go back to the early 1950s. I have an attitude about them. I remember the Cold War. I have an attitude towards Castro. I believe if Castro and the Reds had won the Cold War, there would have been executions in Central Park, and I might have been one of the ones getting executed, and certain other people would be there cheering, OK? So, I have a problem with people who took the other side."

I turly believe Bernie Sanders would have won in 2016 if he was going against Donald Trump instead of Hillary Clinton.

I wonder if Bernie could beat Trump.

I'm really not so sure.

I think that's why the Dems worked to have him lose in 2016. They didn't think he could beat Trump.

Trump will call on all the anti-socialists to vote against him.

"Don't vote FOR trump. Vote AGAINST Socialism."

This is what i'm talking about...

Gallup just released a poll showing that most Americans would be willing to vote for a presidential candidate who is black, Catholic, Hispanic, Jewish, a woman, gay or younger than 40 — but not for a socialist. Sanders is a self-proclaimed socialist. His signature issue is Medicare-for-all. That slogan tests positively. But in a Kaiser Family Foundation poll, 58 percent are opposed to eliminating private health insurance and 60 percent are opposed to paying higher taxes for health care. Sanders’s plan calls for eliminating private health-insurance and paying more taxes. It’s an electoral loser — it’s the super-yacht we can’t afford and don’t need right now — whereas promising to defend and expand the Affordable Care Act is a proven winner that helped Democrats retake the House in 2018.

once hillary showed her all-girl team was just as good at being cheating bastards as men by conspiring with the DNC to intentionally fuck bernie it was over

that and the ridiculously stupid "deplorables" comment. its hard to believe not one of those stupid bitches in the room spoke up and pointed out that broadbrushing them like that was racist and would incur a severe backlash. seems obvious as fuck to me, why didnt any of them see it? bc we live in a super fucked up culture when it comes to race

The reason that eliminating private health insurance or Medicare for all is so tenuous is because people are afraid of the unknown. Taking on something we’ve never had before without any tangible evidence of what that world will be like is enough to make people not want to embrace it.

Will my health insurance cover more, the same, or less than it is now? And how much will it cost me?  Will my healthcare be better or worse than it is now? If you could tangibly show people that it will be better coverage, better care in less money out of pocket, then everybody will embrace it except the people who work for the health insurance companies

  • Thanks 1

Well Bernie just lost Florida with this disastrous interview. Fidel Castro is not so bad! LOL. Hey Bernie, the reason why Castro had a massive literacy program is because you can't get all the propaganda without knowing how to read!

That’s dumb, once you give your entire country free healthcare you can’t just take it away. You just take money from other areas, like military, infrastructure ect. Or you just keep making people pay more. I agree that something needs to be done about healthcare though.
