Ok, NOW I get Tre's tweet.  But there are plenty of good replies to it, more than bad ones like the stuff here.

Yes, but his level of success would not be the same in Buffalo.  I predict even SeanDelevan will not deny that and probably embrace it....but not just him, any rational person as well.

He may not be in the SB but he would still be good.

Mahomes wouldn’t suddenly want to take 20 yard sacks on 4th down, just because he wasn’t on the Chiefs.

The year you are referring to was in 2016 when Rex Ryan was the head coach, and Greg Roman was the OC until the idiot Ryan fired him to try and distract everyone from how terrible a job the defense was doing.

In 2017, the year Mahomes was drafted, Buffalo's head coach was Sean McDermott, the OC was Rick Dennison, and Marquise Goodwin, Robert Woods left in free agency, and Sammy Watkins was traded for a 2nd round pick in 2018 and EJ Gaines because Beane didn't want to over pay for an injury prone WR. So the 2017 Buffalo Bills had such great offensive weapons as Kelvin Benjamin , Zay Jones, Charles Clay and LeSean McCoy.

Well it was McBea...fuck it..it was all McDermott that got rid of all of them(except Mr. Scapegoat Roman).

he didn’t have to. But he did. Because he wanted more defense.

but can you imagine those dudes with Mahomes?

may not be super bowl caliber but it would be WAAAAAAAAAAY fucking better than bottom 3 offense we’ve had the last few years god damnit.

Agree with the getting rid of...but not necessarily just for defense.  They were like step kids, not his.  He wanted his own kids....  and now he has mostly just that already.

Doug Whaley was the GM that didn't re-sign Robert Woods or Marquise Goodwin. Woods was under used in Greg Roman's offense where he was a blocker instead of being targeted in the passing game and Goodwin is a great talent but is frequently injured.

Brandon Beane didn't use the 5th year option on Sammy Watkins after his disappointing and injury riddled 2016 season and trading him to the Rams and got the maximum value in return that he could.

Mahomes doesn't instantly become MVP Mahomes in Buffalo. He potentially could be a good player but it he had an ideal situation in Kansas City to be groomed as a replacement to Alex Smith.

He had like 15 TD’s in his first 5 games ever.

Does Mahomes throw 50 TD's in his rookie year?

Does Mahomes throw 50 TD's if he didn't sit on the bench and learn for a year?

Was Mahomes a finished product coming out of Texas Tech?

I wonder why Andy Reid sat him for a year.

Yes coached up. Thats why he sat the bench his rookie year. Said directly out of the player mouth

Just in preparation, the mental side of the game, I definitely benefited,” Mahomes said. “Being able to watch how teams made adjustments, and then how we made adjustments to the defense, how we’d figure out what blitzes they were bringing, how to protect them, it definitely helped me in the game [against the Chargers]. It’s knowing how to operate the huddle, and then being able to go out there and execute the game plan how it’s supposed to be run.”

Playing the scout-team quarterback in practice really helped develop my game. When we were playing the Jets, with Josh McCown, I'd have to throw a lot of deep balls. Tyrod Taylor with the Bills, you'd have to scramble around a lot. With Tom Brady, it was about dissecting the defense. You go through other offenses, and you make them into your own, and try to make it relate to your offense. I had to do stuff I wasn’t comfortable with, and see what I liked and what I didn’t like.

This shit is like thinking about all of those ex-girlfriends you might have married but passed on. There was a reason Mahomes wasn't our pick at the time and it wasn't because he wasn't an excellent player it's because there was something else we needed on this team. Come on, give it up guys.

Here is a reasonable observation by Thad Brown.

Tremaine Edmunds and Tre White are great defensive players.

If Josh Allen continues with his development Buffalo will be playing in the playoffs in the 2020 NFL season, and Edmunds and White will also be improving.

Kansas City on the other hand has serious Salary Cap issues and there window to win the Super Bowl is now. They will have some very tough decisions to make including if they can re-sign all pro & pro bowl DT Chris Jones this offseason and what players they have to cut once they pay Mahomes $40 million per year on his new contract.

And the next class was projected by almost everybody to be much better.   This is mostly 20/20 hindsight(and people being ingrates, like Tre said).

Ha, maybe they can make a cartoon about McDermott and and his kids, like Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids!  The first Bills show since Hanging Ten With Hamdan!!

A good writer could make it work!  They could go around doing good deeds and overcoming bad luck, etc.   Harrison Phillips would be the new cute Meatball lol

Good luck doing that with a 1935 offense.

The only way Bills will ever “win” this trade is if one day Bills meet Chiefs in the playoffs....and the Bills defense led by Edmunds and White shut Mahomes down. That’s it.

but watch next year....just watch. We will see Mahomes running circles around all the 1st and 2nd round picks on defense. Oliver, Phillips, White, Edmunds and the DE and LB they’ll draft in rounds 1 and 2. Fucking book it.

Studies have been done on this. There is no benefit to sitting a QB.

QB's will always say the right thing in the media.

But even if you want to believe this stupidity, then Josh is going into year 3 now.

He is going to be 2 years past where Mahomes was benched.

So it really doesn't matter.

To be fair Mahomes has much better talent on offense especially at WR and Reid is a better offensive coach.
