This is crazy.

It hasn’t even started snowing yet and Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips is already breaking out the big guns. Phillips, a native of Kansas and an Oklahoma football grad, wore a full winter parka under his pads at Wednesday’s practice.

The low temperature that day was 31, but the high was 46 and the Bills were practicing in the middle of the day. Snow is expected in the forecast over the next couple days for the first time this season. (In Cleveland, where the Bills play this Sunday, it’s expected to be 51 degrees and mostly sunny at kickoff.)

“I just like to have a good time, lighten the mood,” Phillips told Spectrum News after practice. “And if my coat makes people laugh and keeps me warm, so that’s all I do it for.”

It’s not like the cold is something new to Phillips, who joined the Bills in October of 2018 and lived here in November and December.

Buffalo’s final three games of the season have the potential to be cold-weather tilts, as the Bills travel to Pittsburgh, New England, and then back to Buffalo for the season finale.
