Small but mighty

For the first time in a month, the Buffalo Bills (6-2) hit the road, traveling to Cleveland for a match up with the 2-6 Browns in Week 10.

After two straight weeks on FOX, this clash between familiar foes is back on CBS, and the contest will be the featured national game among the early games only for fans living in the Bills’ and Browns’ primary markets. This includes nearly all of New York state and a large pocket of Oklahoma, where Browns’ quarterback Baker Mayfield attended college and claimed the 2017 Heisman Trophy.

CBS’ No. 5 broadcasting team of Andrew Catalon (play-by-play) and former Bill James Lofton (analyst) will handle the Bills/Browns game. Over the last six times Catalon and Lofton have called a Bills’ game, Buffalo has a 4-2 record.

The areas that can see the game are highlighted in orange (map courtesy of 506sports):

On CBS, the majority of the country will see the Kansas City Chiefs travel to play the Tennessee Titans (in red), followed by the Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears (blue), and Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals (yellow). The late CBS telecast pits the Miami Dolphins against the Indianapolis Colts (green).

This will be the 22nd meeting all-time between the Bills and the Browns.

Cleveland leads the series 12-9, with Buffalo winning four of the last five. The last time these teams met, LeSean McCoy ran for 153 yards on 19 carries (an average of 8 yards per carry) with two touchdowns as the Bills rushed for 280 yards on the ground during a 33-13 win on Dec. 18, 2016. Buffalo amassed 451 total yards of offense while limiting Cleveland to 269 total yards of offense, including only 162 net passing yards.

The last time Buffalo traveled to Cleveland, Freddie Jackson rushed for two TDs and C.J. Spiller added a rushing score as Buffalo raced out to a 24-17 third quarter lead. But when EJ Manuel was hurt on a running play, that ushered in the Jeff Tuel era, and the Bills fell 37-24 on Oct. 3, 2013.
