Keep 7, or just dont count our returner as one.

Originally I thought they were leaning towards Ray-Ray.

McKenzie too a big step up and was the leader for a few weeks.

In the Panthers game Duke showed he can fill a roll missing from this roster.

After some serious thinking my vote is for Isaiah McKenzie. He is the most finished wr, can return kicks if needed and has big play ability.

I really like what Isaiah has done, but Duke potentially provides something we don't have on this offense - A red zone threat that will fight for 50-50 balls and win most of them.

But I would be happy with either.

I didn't consider that.....what two do you keep then?

Spuds(McKenzie) and Duke. Ray Ray is close, very close as Trump might say. But I think Flan and others have said it well enough. Spuds has impressed enough, and Duke has the SIZE that we've heard our various GMs talk about off and on for quite awhile, not to mention proven professional game skill in the CFL. You can't teach size, and it could really help the red zone difficulties this team has had. Not to mention, a guy who can fight for a pass is often seen as helpful to a QB whose accuracy is in question, should we ever face that situation. (I may change my mind after game 3, but this is what I'm feeling right now...which I know doesn't matter as much as what I feel after game 3).

Duke also showed his ability to work a TD where size wasn't the issue in our last game. With our record of injuries, keeping 7(or 6, if you just counted our epic return man for what he really is) seems fine by me. Of course, the tough question becomes who do you cut to do this, and this season that is even a more difficult proposition than usual. First cut would likely be someone like TJ Yeldon, but you might also have to consider FB Patrick DiMarco, even as much as a Process guy as he is. I haven't gotten that deep into the analytics yet though, why bother? Maybe after game 3. That's when you'll get your best feel for things as most folks here know.

Good thread, good question. Bots don't make threads like this, Meat.

I don’t think Robert Foster should be considered a shoe-in for the roster...have barely heard his name in TC practices and the same goes for preseason thus far. If McKenzie and Williams are working harder than Foster than I’d be down for passing on Foster.

Robert Foster definitely should be on the roster. It will be a good opportunity to learn from John Brown, and he has too much upside for very little salary to give up on now.

Foster has definitely been a disappointment but he flashed a too much potential last year to just give up on him.

I just hope this isn’t a “flash in the pan” situation. The MIA offseason has me concerned...guess we’ll see.

I recall the staff surprising folks with some of the WR moves last season, so I won't be shocked by anything they do. FWIW, they only kept 5 WRs the previous 2 seasons. This situation is one issue with this sea of mediocrity(aka "shotgun") method. If you were to go just by this offseason, I could see Foster getting the hook again. I'd like to think that what he proved he could do with Josh Allen in real games would be enough to earn him another year, and the Daboll connection certainly doesn't hurt his case, but I'm past letting this staff shock me. Spuds has made his case, and Duke's preseason game 2 along with his size suddenly has him back in the question. Ray Ray is a good game away from being there too. Game 3 will be huge, although we have a backup who has proven he can help make these guys look good(like he did with Duke), so I dont expect game 4 to be completely without merit.

Anyone know which of the 3 wr's are eligible for the practice squad?

It is really going to be interesting how the cuts are made.

Do they keep extra wr's, rb's, te's or olinemen?

Do they keep the veteran depth or stay loyal to developing their draft picks?

How many special teams specialists do they keep on the roster?

Agreed. The fact that he's below Roberts on the depth chart puts him in bubble-territory.

Good point by listing those other positions. The WR issue wouldnt have been as big in other years, but the sea of mediocrity covers so many positions that a lot of talented folks are going to be cut, and a lot of fans will be upset. Being Vegas will make lines on just about anything, they could probably get some action by setting up bets on this if they cared to scout the Bills' training camp. :)

I want to be positive and suppose this should make the next offseason one where they can target specific upgrades rather than just plugging numerous major holes, provided Morse and his contract arent too much of a backfire. I'm trying not to get too attached to any player right now, because I sense there will be disappointment, and possibly even rage when the cuts are made. That said, it's been more interesting than a lot of past camps... Here's to hoping the best will rise to the top tomorrow night.

Foster is a restricted free agent after this year, and has a very low salary for this year. Even as a #4 or #5 WR he provides great value.

Foster struggled at the beginning of last year and then stayed in Buffalo in the offseason to build chemistry with Allen. Foster had an average of 20 yards per catch last year, you want that kind of big play ability on your team.

I think they will keep more than 6

They need to keep 7...McKenzie and Williams have earned their spots! If they cut one it’s Foster. No shows don’t deserve a roster spot and a few flashy games doesn’t mean shit!

The thing is, the previous 2 seasons they kept only 5 so 7 would be a jump even if not for the logjams in multiple other positions(RB, TE, etc). I mean it be easier if we just called Roberts what he is, the guy who went to the Pro Bowl for returns last season, with 6 straight WRs in addition to him. This team is a sea of mediocrity in numerous positions, currently without a lot of standouts in those positions. I could see a major boardwide MELTDOWN on the day when the cuts are announced. Hopefully I will be at home and can be holed up with some beer and enough food to enjoy the entertainment. :)

After last night's game Duke gained 5 votes and jumped into the lead 9-8.

Nice work Duke! You have stepped up when it was needed.

It seems to me McDermott really likes Isaiah McKenzie.

I still think Isaiah makes the team over Duke.
