we are talking about being a moral culture

the culture with the most medical resources of any country in human hisotry, by far, is not being moral if they are not covering every citizen

a culture is not being moral by giving tax cuts to the rich and actually increasing taxes to the middle and lower incomes to give money to weathy people who have been getting a larger and larger piece of the pie every year for decades

those are failures in a secularly moral culture

you dont stop working to find solutions because it would be expensive. we are already 30-ishth in the world in quality while spending at least twice as much as everybody else

this is american excellence at sucking. you cant convince me we cant fix this if we want to

If the feds confiscated all of the wealth (net worth) of the top 10%, they would get about 13 Trillion and then nothing. keep in mind everyone else is collectively worth about 2.5 trillion.

for perspective, the current federal debt is nearly 22 trillion and rising at an estimated 1.2 trillion per year. So, confiscating all the wealth in the entire country would not pay off the federal debt we currently have. and you have both parties doing shit that makes it worse.

we are fiscally fucked right and proper BEFORE talking about these idiotic giveaways. the only road to salvation is cost reduction. Hopefully fatass will take another $6 million flight to a golf course he fronts for the russian mob and think up a solution. I recommend all MAGATs stick there head underwater and wait for this to happen.

Which is why I don't understand why people think taxing the rich will pay for all of this.

because the rich are useful straw men for the larger problem. not that they arent a part of the solution.

who the fuck do you think pays for it?

we all do

who pays for soup kitchens and homeless shelters? for that matter, who pays for corporate tax breaks like amazon paying negative tax?

we are currently going backwards. i wish i could blame it on the don, but this has been happening for a while

if republicans hadnt sabotaged it by withholding the subsidizing payments to doctors for low income folks, obamacare would have worked reasonably well. thats a fact. it still needed fixes, but we would have accomplished that if we ran this country like adults

we could have kept making improvements and fixes to that program and i believe it would be a resounding success. why the fuck you think republicans sabotaged it?!? bc its politics and sometimes politicians act more like children than adults

its been immoral and stupid every time republicans have sabotaged hc over the years, but this one was especially dumb. to me the incredible irony is all the republicans had to do was kill some bad portions of obamacare, put quality solutions in their place, and they could have slapped the 'trumpcare' label on it and it would be remembered more as a win for don than for barry. republicans are experts at making something out of nothing, they could have easily rebranded the same basic hc system to credit republicans at least as much as democrats, probably more

but that would go against the republican creed of taking money from the non-wealthy to give to the wealthy. they had a chance to take the moral road, but they took the political one, and fucked most americans in the process

I like how the people against universal healthcare have no problem with the military industrial complex, the prison industrial complex and insurance companies and big pharma making money of the current flawed system.

Why is it the USA is the only rich developed country without healthcare?

closing the incoming gap that, im not kidding, has been rising for decades again now, is step 1 of any almost any solution

the wealthy make more money now by electronic "investing" than by job creation. its a benefit exclusive to them, usually with money they got by selling stuff to the people that cant make money that way. i call it investing but its really just moving around the right way so that it makes more

to me, looking at a historical graph of the wideninging income gap is like looking at a historical graph of murders committed by blacks. it shows something horrific right in front of our eyes, yet we do nothing about it. somehow it becomes background noise and gets no attention

closing the income gap is the first solution to a shitload of problems

The 6% that doesn't go to the military budget would be a good start

In what world does being booked solid at your job for months mean that’s a bad thing? I know I did my job knowing that there’s gonna be a lot of work for the foreseeable future makes my dick hard because I know I get to make a lot more money than in the slow season

You're right about that. Screw the patients, I guess. :niterider

I'm not even concerned about the cost of Medical, I'm more concerned with where we're going to find the doctors required to support it. If you waved a wand and granted everyone free health care right now every doctor across the country would be booked solid for months. We'd essentially have VA quality healthcare on a larger scale. We'd end up with "Medicare for None" since we'd all be stuck in a queue for months on end. :niterider

You wouldn’t see a doctor you see a NP or PA, only time you would see a doctor is ER or specialist or you have the extra money to pay to see one

Most nations that have a "socialized" medical system still have a system of "co-pays" to balance the system. They also have a Higher Education system that trains their medical professionals without burdening them excessive student loans, allowing them to payback their education expenses in a shorter period of time. There's also a system in many countries that max out the amount of $$ that can be paid back in the first xx# of years after school at a % of their net income - allowing recent grads to build a better life out of the blocks without having to find the golden job.

Assuming no significant issues, my family of 3 (2 in 50's, 1 x 18) will spend approx. $23k out of pocket. $6k deductible with no out of network. It's hard to believe that a national system with portability across state lines would require a higher tax contribution.

A national system also takes health care out of the cost of doing business as a variable cost. It would be a fixed cost for businesses, as I would assume there would need to be an income stream both from citizens and from corporations. A National health care system would allow companies and municipalities to focus on their true costs. Schools wouldn't need to budget for an increasing healthcare cost for their employees, same with municipalities, the federal government. Health care as a wild card line item in a budget for business goes away.

Maybe the first step is to offer a competitive medicare for all plan on the exchange that can be purchased instead of a private plan? Go the proof of concept route. Give all government employees this plan and remove the private insurance companies from being able to sell any government entity a health care plan. Do that and you'll see some real market competition.

Open up medicare for citizens up through age 21. Take the burden of health care away from parents, ensuring all children are covered.

In the end, every citizen needs to be covered somehow, some way.

I've given you 2 examples. 3, really. Raise taxes on rich fucks. Cut spending and divert funds from other places where spending is bloated.

You wanna hear my plan to solve the border crisis now?

Funny how you all are worried about paying for things. Just print as much as you need, heck we dont have to print it anymore. A few keystrokes and bam trillions created out of thin air. They have been doing it that way for years. It is why th US will never default on any loans. We can print all the money we need. We are what 25 trillion in debt now? Whats another 10-20 trillion...Does it really matter at all anymore?

I object with this whole rich man bad bullshit. And especially, rich WHITE man bullshit. It’s so fucking lame. White men, very very poor white men , CONTRIBUTED to humanity to get rich. And YES, non whites didn’t have that chance, of course. Quit whining about rich men getting rich. Now if you want to complain about what they do AFTER they get rich, that different. ALL HUMAN BEINGS DO IT. THROUGHOUT ALL HUMAN HISTORY. Not just white American men. Jesus H on a popsicle stick, doesn’t anyone stay awake in history class?

I'm not bitching about anybody getting or being rich, I'm pointing out that the system is skewed to where politicians hand out advantages to their rich buddies while the rest of the people get fucked. In this case, the difference between people who can afford to go to college and people who cannot
