Post-NFL Draft Buffalo Bills game-by-game predictions | Playoffs on line in Week 17?

It was an exciting April for Buffalo Bills fans. '

Between the schedule release and the 2019 NFL Draft, Bills fans are already looking ahead to September. Looking at the Bills’ roster heading into training camp, it’s easy to see why fans have high hopes for the 2019 season. Buffalo spent much of their offseason building around second-year quarterback Josh Allen while adding Ed Oliver, a top-10 pick, to a defense that finished No. 2 in the league last season.

these game by game predictions are so ridiculous that i pay no attention

After finishing 6-10 one season ago, could the Bills find themselves in playoff contention late in the year? Following the draft, here’s my second prediction on the Bills’ 2019 record.

Week 1: @Jets 1 p.m. (CBS) - Loss (0-1)

The Jets appear to be the trendy choice for the playoffs in 2019 after the team added Le’Veon Bell and C.J. Mosley in free agency. The team should be much improved after a 4-12 season, but is their roster and coaching staff that much better than what the Bills have heading into 2019?

New York pulls out a close Week 1 win at home, but Buffalo will have revenge on their mind in Week 17.

Week 2: @Giants 1 p.m. (CBS) - Win (1-1)

The Giants surprised many teams and fans when they selected Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the No. 6 pick in the draft. Jones isn’t expected to start early in his career so Buffalo will likely take on Eli Manning and company. Buffalo contains Saquon Barkley and rebounds after a Week 1 loss.

Week 3: vs. Bengals 1 p.m. (CBS) - Win (2-1)

The Bengals seem like a team that is on the decline. Andy Dalton’s long-term status in Cincinnati may be determined this season under new head coach Zac Taylor. Buffalo’s home opener is a comfortable win.

Week 4: vs. Patriots 1 p.m. (CBS) - Loss (2-2)

Despite winning the Super Bowl, there were cracks in Tom Brady’s game in 2018. Now without Rob Gronkowski, it will be interesting to see how Brady fares in 2019. While he’s no longer the quarterback he used to be, it’s hard to pick against the veteran based on the success he’s had in his career against the Bills.

Week 5: @Titans 1 p.m. (CBS) - Win (3-2)

The Bills and Titans have been good for one thing in recent years: Ugly football. Their last two matchups, both Bills wins, have had final scores of 13-12 (2018) and 14-13 (2015). It’s hard to predict if the game will be another snoozer, but look for Buffalo to extend their win streak to three games against Tennessee.

Week 6: BYE

The Bills enter the bye with a winning record and get extra time to prepare for a Miami Dolphins team that has low expectations in 2019.

Week 7: vs. Dolphins 1 p.m. (CBS) - Win (4-2)

The Bills have a much better roster than Miami. Brian Flores could turn this team around quickly, but don’t count on much in 2019. The biggest question for this matchup is who will be under center for Miami: Ryan Fitzpatrick or Josh Rosen.

Week 8: vs. Eagles 1 p.m. (FOX) - Loss (4-3)

Is this a winnable game? Absolutely. That said, Carson Wentz, if healthy, will be one of the best quarterbacks the Bills play this season. Wentz spreads the ball around to old and new weapons and the Eagles escape with a close win.

Week 9: vs. Washington 1 p.m. (FOX) - Win (5-3)

Buffalo’s skid ends after one game. Don’t be surprised if Dwayne Haskins is Washington’s starting quarterback at this point in the season. Haskins has a lot of upside and promise, but Buffalo forces a few turnovers against the rookie QB and move back to two games over .500.

Week 10: @Browns 1 p.m. (CBS) - Loss (5-4)

Buffalo continues to alternate wins and losses. Expectations for Cleveland are high this year and it’s easy to understand why. The team has weapons across the board on offense and is in good hands on defense with Steve Wilks. The Bills might make it interesting, but they fall to the Browns.

Week 11: @Dolphins 1 p.m. (CBS) - Win (6-4)

At this point in the season, Miami will want to see what they have in quarterback Josh Rosen. It’s possible that Miami finds themselves in contention to take one of the draft’s top signal callers in the 2020 draft if Rosen struggles in his first season with the Dolphins. Buffalo completes the sweep of Miami with a win on the road.

Week 12: vs. Broncos 1 p.m. (CBS) - Win (7-4)

Joe Flacco could be a placeholder in Denver for Drew Lock. Although the term “elite” is jokingly used to describe the former Super Bowl winning QB, his play has been anything but elite in the last few seasons. While the game ends up being close, Buffalo picks up their seventh win of the season.

Week 13: @Cowboys (Thanksgiving Day) 4:30 p.m. (CBS) - Win (8-4)

It’s a short turnaround for both teams and it ends up benefiting Buffalo. The Cowboys are one of the more talented teams in the NFC East, but the Bills squeak out a close win that is punctuated by a late-game Ed Oliver sack.

Week 14: vs. Ravens 1 p.m. (CBS) - Win (9-4)

At 8-4, there is serious talk about the Bills being a playoff team. The talk turns into a yell following a home against the Baltimore Ravens. Lamar Jackson makes some flashy plays with his arm and feet, but the Chargers gave Buffalo and other teams a blueprint on beating Baltimore in the playoffs last season.

Week 15: @Steelers 1 p.m. (CBS) - Loss (9-5)

The Steelers will be without Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown in 2019, but the team still has a lot of talented weapons on offense and a good quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger. The quarterback may throw an interception or two Buffalo’s way during the contest, but Buffalo falls on the road.

Week 16: @Patriots TBD - Loss (9-6)

New England on the road in meaningful game is a recipe for disaster for Buffalo. Eventually they’ll get over the hump against the Patriots, but it won’t happen in the regular season.

Week 17: vs. Jets 1 p.m. (CBS) - Win (10-6)

The Bills and Jets will be battling for one Wild Card spot in Week 17. Buffalo makes up for their Week 1 loss by defeating the Jets at New Era Field and claiming a playoff spot in the AFC. The celebration lasts well into the night at New Era Field.
